I'm sorry this has taken so long, but for reasons I don't really understand, posting this chapter has affected me as deeply as sending my kids off to college. This story is one of my children, and now I've sent it out into the world.

I asked Jemima if she'd like to give Spike the nut and she nodded. She gave the nut gently to the dormouse, who gladly accepted it. It tickled her hand which made her laugh, then when she saw how Spike opened the nut, she shrieked with laughter and the dormouse disappeared.

We drove to the university followed by Janice and Jemima. Tom grumbled most of the way there, I ignored it, in some ways he was worse than Jemima.

"Look Tracy, I know that I’m not supposed to talk to Rachel but she was so sad and anyway, it was a stupid idea of yours to go out late and..."

Artistic, fashion minded and pretty, Harold is a lovely boy who finds he must survive in one of the rowdiest fraternity houses on campus. Soon he figures that his very femininity is the charm that will take him through difficult adventures.

Once upon a time, there was a man who lived in a hidden village in the woods. All the people in the village knew this man's name to be Shelly, and everyone in the village knew the man's story. Some times Shelly would come out of his house to watch the sun begin to set; and in the last moments before the sun is gone Shelly would cry.

"So if Jemima turns up again, you have to adopt her, don't you?"

Sometimes life's most important lessons are learned in ways you wouldn't expect.

"Mom? Do you think I will be able to pull this off for the rest of the month?" Tammy asked.

"I think that if you just relax and show that you are serious about changing your ways, then it will go faster than you realize." Mom said.

"I have already realized what an asshole I was as Tom."

"That is an understatement!" Mom laughed.

Chapter 10

"Tammy"

A shy, delicate boy enters one of the rowdiest fraternity houses on campus and finds that his femininity can be used to good advantage to fend off the boorish boys.

I wondered if she’d told the others of my past, or if she’d do that in school if ever I fell foul of her. I could really do with something powerful on her, that I could use to counter blackmail, sort of like I’d read about with the Cold War, where they called it, ‘Assured Mutual Destruction’.

"And you look good for your age," said Robert as he turned toward Lizzie Jane, leaned forward, and kissed her on the lips.

"Well, no," replied Lizzie Jane with a smile. "But I liked it.".

This is a rarity for me...a short story. It's my contribution to Short Story Month. I hope you all enjoy it.

"Aaaarrgh!"

"Stella, those were my ear drums you just shattered."

"This isn't the way to Tom's, this is the hos.... I am not going into a hospital."

“Ok I’ll leave it then, you’re are a grown man and Melissa is your daughter so it’s your decision. I just don’t think that after Grace you two should be apart. Ok it’s bound to happen that a good looking guy like yourself would meet somebody else. But just be careful. Neither of you can take another break up. So make sure you make the right choice for the right reason.” I said.

Parking the car was a nightmare. Everyone within a hundred miles who owned a car had brought it to Portsmouth. I was beginning to think it was personal! Finally, we found a space. For what they were charging, we could have rented a cabin on the Queen Mary, rip off didn't half cover it.
