In one of the history lessons at school I remembered reading about some ancient Greek guy who had to perform one feat of endurance after another to atone for doing some pretty bad stuff. It seemed I was fated to follow the same path, though I beg to point out that the stuff I might have done and was certainly paying for was no way in the same league as his.

Nick was pretty sure he led a normal married life of routine, and he did, until his wife, Jennifer, learns she can push him out of his comfort zone with a little 'hands-on' encouragement.

The day before Thanksgiving I was surprised to see my mother’s station wagon at the school gates at the end of the day. When she saw me she motioned me to get in the back of the car.
“Hurry Jennifer! We’ve a lot to do and not much time to do it in,” she greeted me as I pulled the door shut behind me. I was desperately hoping that no-one within earshot had heard her make use of my femme name!

Chapter 8

For the first few minutes of the drive Ashley remained relatively quiet as she stared out of the window, pretty nervous about being seen and recognised despite how good she looked. After Jessy’s pep talk she realised it was all just in her head and that she should be proud of who she was. That she shouldn’t fear people getting to know the real her, but it was a task that was easier said than done.

Once in the relative privacy behind the curtain Stephanie addressed Victor in a hushed voice. “Now the best thing you can do for you and me is to just play along.
