Chapter 1 — The Job Nobody Expected

The advertisement had been sitting on Maya’s monitor for less than thirty seconds when she looked across the desk at Evan and said, “Absolutely not.”

Evan had known her long enough to recognize the expression. Maya worked for a staffing agency, which meant that when she looked at a computer screen that way, she had either found precisely the wrong job for someone or precisely the right job for the wrong person.

“What?”

“Nothing.”

“You’re smiling.”

“I smile.”

“Not like that.”

Samantha was supposed to disappear after graduation. Instead, Samuel opens the suitcase again and faces his first day maintaining her entirely on his own.

Morning came too quickly.

Samuel opened his eyes slowly, disoriented by the unfamiliar ceiling, the beige curtains moving faintly in the air conditioning, and the lingering smell of hairspray mixed with perfume.

Natalie's house.

The gala.

Tiffany.

The dance.

The message.

His chest tightened at once.

He sat up on the guest bed. He was wearing a girls pijama Natalie had lent him. Traces of makeup remained around his eyes, faint dark smudges beneath the lashes betraying how much he had cried the night before.

Hey all!
Been awhile since I've posted. I've started a series of novels based on the Magic, Mystery and Mayhem Universe. I'm calling this one The Case of the Twisted Sister. It has TG in it...along with a campy feel. I'm hoping to make a series similar to the old Scooby Doo Mysteries...not sure if I'll be successful.

Say whatever he would about these changes to his body, there was no denying that through it all, Linus felt alive. For the first time since Beth’s betrayal, he actually felt emotion. Fear may have been the primary feeling, but at least his malaise was gone. This revelation gave him pause. Could what was happening be a good thing? Were the gods sending me a present?
