“When I saw you enter...I thought you was…,” the as-yet-unidentified man said.

“A boy?” Rush replied. She was wearing a t-shirt and basketball shorts.

“You know it’s difficult,” the man said with a shrug as he walked away from the bathroom. “You are dressed like a man. Of course, you are dressed like a man, so…”

This showed up on my wife's Facebook page. She asked my opinion of it and I looked it over and thought, "What would the gang at BCTS think?"

Transgender in Women's Bathroom (Social Experiment)

Let me know if you feel this was a fair experiment or does this guy have an agenda and is he trying to appear sympathetic while joining the anti trans bathroom argument?

Lots of good conversation going on in the news and on places like Facebook, where Target, the American Family Association and other sites feature homophobes.

Though participating in the commerce is exhausting, I think a lot of good is coming of it. I'm just too snotty and sassy to let some of what the ignorant are saying just go by. Though, the time will come when I need to step back and take a break.

Many on the news and in Facebook are sympathetic to our plight, something that surprises me.

Update on Denise

Blog About:

Just to let you know, Denise is improving rapidly. For a while, letters were squiggly lines with no meaning. Now, although they have to be larger, letters and words are making sense. The cognitive difference had made typing difficult, bu now she's pluggin along really well.

We are in the process of writing a saga - a five volume story, should we live so long. Don't expect the first chapter for at least six months. After that maybe one complete story a year. At least, that's the plan at this time.

Denise thanks you for your good thoughts and prayers.

For reasons unbeknownst to me, I've become curious about the movie, "The Danish Girl". Early reviews indicated that it might be too poignant for me, so I passed when it came out. So, how was it? Was it decently done? I'm post op and know how it is. Was it worth it?

Stop press!

I was watching a Television program on a guy walking around Scotland following old original tourist guides - I was so excited to see he was going to call at Thurso, the setting of a great deal of the Tamara series. Disapointed that he didnt go into the town and harbour and give a glimpse of this distant place. However, it would appear that Thurso is one of the top surfing spots in the UK, for masochists or rubber fetishists! boy does the north sea look cold. Will any of our characters be taking to a board?

Tavistock Clinic referrals double

Blog About:

Some interesting nuggets of information have been revealed by the Tavistock Clinic.

The number of young people referred to England's only gender identity clinic for under-18s has doubled in the past year to nearly 1,400, figures show. The data also shows that nearly twice as many biological girls than boys were referred to London's Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust last year.

But then this is North Korea, I mean Carolina - are they the same people who are trying to build a missile to hit the US? I thought North Carolina was in the US, just as well I don't teach geography.

A story in Harper's Bazaar about celebrities meeting the Queen has a bit of a ruction going on Facebook. I've been around the world a bit and see no harm in respecting the culture of another country. If I went to Saudi Arabia, you can bet I would wear Niqab. If I went to the Jungles of South America, I am not sure I would run around in a few leaves, but not out of disrespect. If I went to Japan, I would try to find out about their usual greeting, and bow and say hai as is proper.

Denise' stroke required surgery to stop the bleeding in her brain. The doctors say that they sealed it, and that there appears to be no additional damage.

Her brother flew out from the West Coast to be with her. He reports that she's doing moderately well. He says her left side was affected. Her speech is affected, as has her vision. However, she seems to be thinking clearly and shows every sign of a good recovery.

Hello Everyone,

I am sad to report that one of my favorite authors, Denise Trask, has suffered a stroke. She is known by many nom de plumes. She is Anesidora's Urn when writing Last of the Fey. She is Renae A. Dumas, who took over from T. D. Aldonetti, when writing Duty Calls. And, she is my co-author in a new novella, Terra Infirma.

I am in contact with her brother. He reports that she underwent surgery today. She is now out of surgery and in recovery. The surgeon reports that the surgery went well. However, he can't predict either the extent or the pace of her recovery.

For years the media trots out the 2011 Williams Institute figure of “700,000 transgender people in the U.S.” (2011 Williams Institute LGBT Report). They came up with this number based on two primary sources: a survey in Massachusetts, estimated from data collected in 2007 and 2009—and a 2003 study of California smokers.

A Co-Worker AM Radio Story

I've recently been kind of engrossed with the whole idea of gender fluidity and a non binary definition of gender. I guess I've been thinking about these things my whole life, but only recently really started reading and thinking more seriously. The political season has lots of people all fired up and the supreme court case on gay marriage has got issues of "queerness" on peoples minds. I think something that really got me thinking about issues of gender was an argument I got in at work awhile back, this was last year when Caitlyn was in the news everyday.

One of my favorite online "news" sources is The Onion, the U.S. satirical "newspaper" that bills itself as "America's Finest News Source". They write about politics, sports, popular culture, et al., and seem to have a real knack for telling things the way they really are, even if it's all made up. They stopped their weekly print version a few years ago, which was offered in many large U.S. cities, but continue to have an active online presence.

Hatch, Match and Dispatch

Blog About:

For Australian readers who missed it, there is a new program 'Hatch, Match and Dispatch' on ABC1 television, on Thursdays at 8pm. It comprises stories from the New South Wales registry of Births, Marriages and Deaths, and in Episode 2 broadcast on Thursday 18th February, it features a ballet dancer called Julia who is transgender and comes to change her name. It is joyful but painfully sad since her parents won't recognise her any more. Thank goodness she has a dog, and as we know they give unconditional love. If you missed it you can catch it on iview.

Transgender Ballerina - The Times (UK)

I'm not a great one for reading the newspapers, as I find the constant barrage of negativity and bad news tends to tilt the balance of sanity towards deep depression and paranoia. Read this Transgender Ballerina

Found it hopeful.

They say they hadn’t spotted that I was transgender -- according to their rules you have to be born female to take part in the pageant."

In 2000 I had a total right knee replacement. November 2104 I had a spinal laminectromy, and in December I had a total left knee replacement. Fortunately I have a snowblower but still spent 7 hours digging out. Needless to say my new knee wasn't too happy with me. No damage, just ache & fatigue.
