I was trying to work out the best way to talk to my parents about my greatest secret. I had been about to start talking to Dad, when Mom and Grandma got home. Oh, joy...

“Umm, Mom? I guess I need to talk to the whole family if I could?”

Mom looked at Dad, who shrugged his shoulders. Grandma looked at me with concern, and then suddenly seemed to smile a little.

“Let’s go into the living room and get comfortable, okay?” Mom said.

We found comfortable seats, Mom and Dad on the sofa, Grandma and I sat in the comfortable chairs, and I tried to find the best way to start.

The girls met Kevin and Bob at a TGI Fridays. Bob and Kevin had gotten there early and had already gotten a table.

I get up early despite it being a late night because my brain just won’t turn off. I actually feel sore and achy but it doesn’t matter because at the same time I really feel good. It’s so one of those my heart is feeling better than my body and carrying me above and beyond.

I slip out of bed and pad through the house making the morning coffee and doing up a batch of French toast with the homemade bread. That done along with some bacon in the oven to warm I get the camera phone and make my way upstairs recording myself for our sites.

“Hey it’s Jem, it’s about six twenty in the morning and I’ve just got to show you something amazingly cool about one of the band. Her name’s Roxy and she’s our drummer and I’ll show you all why.”

This story is written in two 'books'. The first half is titled 'The Homestead', the second is simply called 'Kodiak'. The sequel was written as a result of people wanting to know more of the mountain man and 'Kodiak' is his story.

I’m still not sure why I’m befriending someone that I would have hated in my old life. But I am. I sit with Kyle and I hold him when he cries and hold him later when he’s starting to shiver.

I’m a bit worried, his chi is a mess.

I can feel it’s like his energy pathways or for a lack of a better word for it his chakra net work is shorting out some of the time and moving to areas where the concentrations shouldn’t be gathering.

Kristi woke with the alarm. She hated school days, especially after the nights she endured. She dragged herself out of her cot, in the basement of her “Auntie’s” house.

She was sixteen, and had been out of her parent’s house for two years. She had problems that they didn’t want to deal with, and she didn’t want to abide by their wishes, so she left. No looking back. It was too painful. She wondered where it had all gone wrong.

I want to title this one “I believe”. I’m going to just take a minute to say some things.

I’m laying in my bed, thinking about my date last night, and what my life has been like for the last couple of weeks. Yeah, I’ve been a girl for a less than a month, and in that time I’ve gone from a depressed Junior Varsity quarterback with a broken heart to a fairly happy witch, dating (and maybe even in love with) the Varsity quarterback.

Wow, when you think about it that way, it really sounds like I’m some kind of a slut.

Tim pulled into a parking spot at the Green Onion. I had never been here before, but I’d heard of it. Mom called it a “fusion” restaurant, serving a slightly odd mix of Hispanic and Mediterranean foods. It was supposed to be pretty good, so I thought it was a good choice.

There were quite a few couples from our school, and I realized that this was a popular “date” restaurant. I couldn’t give Tim any points for originality, but if this was that popular, the food must be pretty good. We were shown to a comfortable booth, and a smiling young man gave us our menus.
