The government limousine that had picked Stephanie up from the airport sped along the highway at a speed that was above the limit. It passed police cars which didn't give chase because it was a diplomatic vehicle. Unfortunately for the passenger in the back seat of the vehicle this felt more like a kidnapping.

I leave the hospital a bit reluctantly at first heading out into the morning sunshine and not bursting into flames was…its bad fiction really, it is the re-souled vampire or Vampyre I guess according to THE GODDESS seeing the sun for the first time in so long.

I really don’t want to burst people’s bubbles but tons of vamps have seen the sunshine, most of us have and do all the time it’s just that we can’t have the sunshine actually touch us.

Bishop slices through the water with an ease she finds more than a little disturbing. Her new body moves far too well through the warm, chlorinated wetness of the hotel pool. Lap after lap, all alone in her black one-piece from the pricey ladies shop in the lobby, her world growing smaller and smaller with each passing moment until it feels like she’s the only person in the universe. It’s just her and the warmth and the sounds muted by the water in her ears, and it feels so good to be alone in the here and now. Without company. Without context.

Without the world trying to label her and put her in what it thinks is her place.

Lips brushed ever so lightly, ever so briefly, but enough. I felt the power enter me again, felt the familiar dizzy sensation, felt myself growing, straining the fabric of my clothes. The comforting weight of my hair receded. Delicate nylon stretched and tore, the straps of my sandals snapped and along with them the last of my strength. I sagged to my knees, Ken's knees. Lifted my hands to my face, Ken's hands, Ken's face. I opened my mouth to cry out, but no sound would come. Inside something broke and what poured out and spread through every fibre of my being was a most profound and utter sense of loss that went beyond imagining.

The squeal for help dragged Sandra from her early morning torpor and she blinked stupidly as she stirred. She uncurled her legs, yawned then stretched stiffly from the uncomfortable chair in the night office. Next she tugged the hem of her nursing uniform and adjusted her panties that had ridden up into the cleft of her bum. After spending the night watch scrunched up in the uncomfortable night duty chair her back was sore and her legs stiff with cramp.
