I was sitting in my alleyway feeling sorry for myself. Despite these negative thoughts that I just couldn't push away, I was still very aware of my surroundings. When you have been a war zone, some part of you never quite believes that you have left. Surprises had made me react instinctively and violently which is why I was in this alleyway and away from anyone I could hurt accidentally.

At 18, she had been trained to be a personal guard of the Queen, able to stand up to and win over dozens of warriors. Chosen for her beauty, strength, dexterity and character. However, when monsters unknown before started attacking the border towns and villages, every able fighter was sent to protect them, even the trainees.

I'm a human jukebox, I thought. Why don't I stutter when I sing? "Put another nickel in, in the nickelodeon," I sang, finishing up with "Money, money, money," instead of "Music, music, music." When I started a song, I needed to sing it all the way through, apparently, but I could alter it.

2. Too Much Lovin'

My breath came in great racking sobs. The terror had seized my insides, and I lurched into movement on all fours, crawling toward the bathroom...

After a chance encounter between Barry and Cathy at Jones Beach,  a hot dog man recognizes that they are soulmates, and attempts to spark their mutual love.  Inadvertently, he causes them to swap bodies and suffer amnesia. Barry and Cathy are then forced to acclimate to life as the opposite sex while also struggling to discover their true identities. Will they ever realize the love that was first kindled on Jones Beach?

There was no sign of the rowboat in the river. No trace of the bathtub in the sky. I was back in my town, back in the normal world. Everything was right again, except that I was someone else, and had a month to learn a new language and a new sport. Perfectly normal.

When she finished describing her imaginary relationship with the man I used to be, she took a deep breath and looked at the woman I am now.

I held the dress up in front of me, and looked in the mirror. Mayda gazed back at me. Of course she looked wonderful. Of course the dress would look lovely on her. It was weird as hell to know that the girl in the mirror was me.
