Chapter 18

The lighters are dying down as “Two for the show.” finishes our set and y’know it’s not really me or raven singing that either we’re doing back up for Brooklyn actually and I just sort of ended up drifting over to Raven and we slipped an arm around each other and sort of swayed as we sang and shared the microphone she was holding.

I’m shaking from the adrenaline a little and the song she sang to me was I think the most beautiful thing that anyone’s ever sung to me before but I’m biased really.

Chapter 7

“What are we going to do about this, Kate?” asked Justin. There was more than a small edge to his voice.

“Take it easy, Justin. I fully expected them to try something like this. I’m ready for it. Fax all of the documents to my office for me to review, and we’ll be ready for them in court”

“Are you sure this will be okay?”

“Positive. Their timing couldn’t have been worse for their cause. Jung’s parents are sympathetic to your cause, right?”

Chapter 6

Hyun Ae was a ball of energy. She didn’t need sugar to fuel her hyperactivity. The prospect of her grandparents coming to see her was all the motivation she needed.

“Mommy! I’ve finished cleaning my room! Come look!”

“Is it mommy clean or Hyun Ae clean?”

Hyun giggled. “Mommy clean!”

“Okay, sweetie. Let me finish here in the kitchen, and I’ll come and check it out. Why don’t you come in here and help me unload the dishwasher”

Chapter 5

“Mom? How are you doing?”

“Justin! Well, this certainly is a surprise. What do I owe the honor of a call? It’s usually Jung calling, since you are usually too busy to call your poor mother”

“All right, Mom. I get it. I don’t call enough. It’s not like you don’t hear from somebody here on a regular basis. Besides, I hate chit chat on the phone”

“I know. So, what’s wrong?”

Hyun Ae is out. Will she blossom or wither?

Chapter 4

No genetic girl ever took to shopping like Hyun. Her mother was blown away be her willingness to try on different outfits. Her intention was to start slowly, maybe dressing her at home, but Hyun was having none of it. The butterfly was out of the cocoon, and there was no stopping her.

“I just love this dress, mommy! It’s so pretty” She spun around in the red and black A line dress. It had a bow in back.

Chapter 4

I’m greeted by several of the native leaders that are there and there’s some Cree, Hurons, and Algonquin as well as Bearskin Mohawks…I get this distinct feel off of them like they’re Were but not wolves…I’m not stupid enough to ask what.

They get led to me and I can’t really let that go down. This might be my camp but not my home turf so I go to them.

I’ve been practicing this ever since I knew that they were coming and I channel a spell I’ve made.

Jung’s eyes flashed with anger. “What do you mean? He fainted and hit his head on the floor!”

“Mrs. Brooks, it is standard operating procedure when a child is injured to investigate and determine the cause. It’s my job to find that out”

I’m waking up after being really spaced out…again. I hate this, I hate freaking out and acting like I’m a fucking psycho but getting turned into a girl by a four armed mad scientist….and as bad as it was it was worse, I was a fat chick.

I hate saying it, I hate thinking it’s so bad but I was already fat, fat and lower middle class so there was really shit I could do about it. Yeah, yeah I know exercise and diet.

Evening came way too fast for me, and I could feel it too. It was this thing, like when you feel a chill.

Chapter 3

The reports take me awhile. It’s why I guess that armies really do run on paper. I didn’t really want to do this stuff but I need to. Mom keeps refilling my coffee and Dad’s still kind of surly; I can really start to see why he hates this, why he never wanted to be part of the life. He actually shot me a sort of sympathetic sort of look and then left after looking at everyone.

Athena/Andrea is sitting with Dorian and are talking is a very foreign language save for the names of people and places that don’t fit the language I mean what ever they’re speaking stuff like “New York” doesn’t seem to translate to. I think he’s getting caught up on current events.

But no voice could be heard on the other end, just heavy breathing. She listened for a moment, in case they had a mouth full of food or something, then hung the phone up. “Weird.” She stated and went back to her book. A few moments later, the phone rang again. She looked at it as she considered if she really wanted to pick it up. There was a good chance that her mother could be calling, she picked it up once more. “Hello? Patterson's residence.”

It was quiet for a moment or two, then a voice spoke. It seemed to be a teen's voice, possibly older, one she didn't know. “I know.” Was all it said.
