Dina, part 10

“You gonna be much longer in there?” my flatmate asks as I apply the finishing touches to my make-up and give my ever-growing hair one final brush.

“Just a sec,” I reply. “Just got one last thing to do….” I smile as I reach into my medicine drawer and retrieve the two packets of pills that over the last two weeks have become beyond precious to me. The fact that one packet is labelled ‘progesterone’ and the other ‘oestrogen’ should be all you need to know why.

Lisa, part 9

“Aww, poor you,” Sonia teases, making me roll my eyes as I fasten my tie. “Your summer of fun was always going to come to an end sooner or later, you knew that.”

“Yeah, ‘fun,’ ” I reply with a snort of laughter, though what I of course don’t want my sister to know is that this has already been one of the best summers of my life.

Twins, part 18

“Some point today would be good,” Luke yelled through the closed door, growing increasingly exasperated by his sister's procrastination.

“Just a sec, I’m nearly there,” Lucy replied as she looked at her reflection in her mirror.

Former San Diego Padres owner to take controlling interest in English soccer minnows

Author:

Which seems like the least appropriate blog entry ever for this site, but I feel it's worth mentioning as said 'minnows' just happened to be the hometown team I've supported for decades, and who have a shot at reaching a level fo English football they haven't reached at any point during my lifetime. :-)

Ian, part 27

“Is this one?” Leanne asks as she holds up a blank DVD. “I found it between those two bookcases.”

“Does it have any writing on the label?” I ask.

“Just letters and numbers, ‘TC fourteen dash one,’ whatever THAT means,” my girlfriend replies.

“ ‘TC’ will be for ‘Team Chwilen,’ ” I explain. “Stick that in the envelope too, heh.”

Stephanie, part 30

“Hey Steph!” The unmistakable Scottish twang of The Angels’ newest member calls to me as I take a glass of complementary champagne from the refreshments table. “I hoped I’d meet you here today!”

“Oh — hey Dina!” I reply with an excited giggle, which is thanks in no small part to the clingy asymmetric black dress the model is wearing. “I LOVE that dress, is it bespoke or a label?”

Cough cough cough

Welp, after 5 and a half years, I have finally tested positive for Covid. In epic fashion- the 'test' line popped up immediately on the test when I dropped the liquid in. Like, five seconds tops. Between this and other health issues... yeah, my already-crap uploading schedule just got another hit.

Mental images of characters

As you may or may not know, for about the last year I've 'punctuated' my stories with AI-generated images of my characters that I've uploaded to my deviantart page- https://www.deviantart.com/debsxxxx . I reckon I've 'created' about 150 different characters- including characters from stories not yet released, that number's up to over 200.

Dina, part 9

“Ugh,” I grunt as for the third time in as many mornings, I’m woken by the sound of not just traffic, but pedestrians passing by outside my window. With a sigh, I brush my hair out of my face, drag my tired body out of bed and slink through to the kitchen where — again, for the third time in as many mornings — my flatmate is already awake and eating her breakfast.

“Morning!” Martha says with a giggle between mouthfuls of muesli.

Lisa, part 8

I bite my lip as I stare at my friend, trying to judge her reaction to what I just said — is it surprise, or shock, or, as much as I hope it isn’t, disgust?

“…Bailey?” I ask hesitantly. “Did you hear — I, umm, I meant what I said. I’ve — I’ve always wished that I was a girl. Pl- please say something?” I bite my lip as Bailey looks at me, her mouth slightly ajar as she tries to find the words to reply. Please, I think to myself. Please be understanding, is that really too much to ask for?

Lisa, part 7

“Liam! Come here!” I hear a voice yell, making me grunt as my eyelids flicker open and I take in my surroundings — my bedroom in Sonia’s flat, with bright sunlight streaming through a gap in my curtains. However, it isn’t Sonia who’s calling me. “Liam! I haven’t got all day!”

Lockdown 2: Unlocked

“Ooh, how about these?” Sarah asked as she picked up a box of expensive-looking chocolate covered shortbread biscuits. “You did say that one of the new Angels is Scottish, didn’t you?”

“Yeah, but she’s not moved to London yet,” Nikki replied, before giggling, taking the box from her wife and placing it in the already-bulging trolley. “Both Alice AND Charlotte love these though, hehe!”

“And being models, they’ll probably only be allowed to eat a maximum of two each,” Sarah teased.

Twins, part 17

“Come on, up and at ‘em!” Paul yelled as he banged on his son’s door, eliciting a tired groan from the twenty-year-old. “Just ‘cause football’s one step closer ta comin’ home, it doesn’t mean ya can lay around all day!”

“Yes, yes, okay,” the young man grunted through the door as he threw back the covers and sat upright, brushing his messy hair out of his face and shielding his eyes from the bright summer Sun.

“Same goes for you, Luke!” Paul yelled as he banged on his other son’s door.

Dina, part 8

“Ex- excuse me?” The young woman asks, her facemask muffling her soft Yorkshire accent. “Can — can we get a selfie with you, please?” I allow myself a small chuckle as I turn to face the asker of the question — a girl barely older than sixteen, standing with three others of her age. All of them are wearing t-shirts with cartoon caricatures on the front and, even though I can’t see them, angel wing prints on the back, just like all t-shirts promoting the group I tried — and failed — to join.

Ian, part 26

“So… exactly how many high school fantasies are we fulfilling right now?” Paul asks as I tune my bass guitar, and I can’t help but smirk as I can already guess how the impending argument will go.

“Bit inappropriate to ask about MY high school fantasies, but I’ll let it slide,” Stuart replies, and I sense my opportunity to chip in.

“If it helps, Paul, I’m wondering the same thing,” I say, chuckling at the mock-offended look on my mentor’s face.

“…Okay, yes, every music student dreams of playing in a garage band in an actual garage,” Stuart concedes.

Dina, part 7

“Annnnnnnnd that’s £500, please,” Lil says with a smug grin, which widens as I sigh and hand her the pretend pink banknote. “Much obliged, Miss Williams!”

“Do NOT stuff that one down your bra, as I’m going to take it from you very soon!” Lydia teases, before rolling the dice and continuing our game of ‘Angels Monopoly.’

Today is day nine of our ‘incarceration’ in the Lincolnshire mansion, and the restlessness is already starting to kick in — hence why many of us have already resorted to Monopoly.

Twins, part 16

“Ah- shit, sorry…” Luke mumbled as he entered the college’s toilet block to find his twin standing at a urinal fastening his zipper.

“S’okay,” Lucas mumbled, not looking at Luke as the young trans man limped toward one of the cubicles. Both twins grimaced as the encounter ended, not least because it was the most words they’d exchanged with each other for weeks.

So, today it finally happened

A day few thought we'd ever see. A day some even dreaded. But after being away from the top since 2020, the man of the hour has finally arrived at his new home.

Sir Lewis Hamilton has arrived at Ferrari.

Was something else meant to be happening today? I prefer to only give oxygen to things that improve my life and the world around me.

Dina, part 6

“Okay Dina, ya’s up!” Lil says, making me giggle as I approach the table, straightening my casual tank top and short denim skirt before brushing my long hair out of my face. With a determined look, I pick up the ball and the paddle with my immaculately manicured fingers and make my serve, giggling at the noise the hollow plastic sphere makes as it bounces back and forth between myself and Martha.

It’s been two days since Ginny became the first candidate to leave the ‘Angel Mansion’ and, in that time, I’ve made a real effort to get to know the rest of the candidates better.

Lisa, part 6

“Beautiful,” I involuntarily whisper as I watch the image on my screen, grateful that my microphone is on mute and that none of the other teenagers — the other girls — on the call can hear me. And in fairness, the images I’m seeing ARE beautiful.

The 15-year-old girl looks effortlessly elegant as she glides across the floor in her pink tutu. Even her pink face mask doesn’t detract from the illusion that she is the perfect image of a ballerina — although the badge stuck to the tutu that says ’15 today’ does a little.

Stephanie, part 29

I have to keep myself from smiling as I touch up my lipstick, before liberally coating my long brown hair with shiny hairspray. Once my look is complete, I stand up from my dresser and examine myself in my bedroom’s full-length mirror.

Dina, part 5

My TV’s alarm wakes me at 7am the following morning, and after a quick wash and brush of my hair, I pull on my silky pink dressing gown and head down to the mansion’s designated breakfast area, where I discover I’m not the first to get up.

“Hi Dina!” Lil says with an overenthusiastic giggle as she tucks into her breakfast alongside Lydia and Martha. “Welcome ta the ‘early birds’ table, hehe!”

“Thanks!” I reply with a genuine smile as I get a cup of coffee and a bowl of cornflakes before joining the three women. “Have you been awake long?”

Dina, part 4

I bite my lip nervously as I watch the countryside whizz by outside my window, partly because this is, by far, the furthest I have ever travelled as ‘Dina,’ but mostly because of what lies ahead of me — and what I’ve left behind me as well.

Twins, part 15

“I- I’m sorry, what?” Luke asked incredulously as Paul muttered a barely audible ‘Jesus Fucking Christ’ under his breath.

“I said that I don’t want to be a woman any more,” the distraught youngster replied. “I don’t want to be a woman, and I don’t want to be called ‘Lucy’ any more.”

“Well it’s going to be confusing around here with two ‘Lukes,’ ” Luke replied. “’Cause I sure as hell am not giving this name up.”

Twins, part 14

“Come on then, hopalong, we ain’t got all day!” Paul said with a chuckle, which became a full blown laugh when his son regarded him with an angry glare.

“It DOES still hurt, ya know,” Luke replied as he hobbled into the house, carrying a shopping bag in one hand and leaning on a crutch with the other arm.

“Aye, and tha doctors say it’ll hurt more in tha long run if ya don’t regularly exercise it,” Paul retorted. “And yas got ta keep those lungs o’ yours working too!”

Stats

many of you may know of my love for statistics, being a maths graduate and all. Earlier today I ran the statistics for my stories again (a fairly time-consuming process but usually done in well under half an hour). What's interesting is comparing them to the last time I did the stats, which was May 13 2023.

In that time (17 months and 13 days) I've only posted 12 additional chapters (amusingly, I have sixteen in my backlog right now*) increasing from 258 to 270. However, on my existing chapters:

Latest AI Art/Last AI Art? (caution: Image heavy)

Hey ladies :-)

Since my last post showing off some of the AI art I've created of my characters, I've been... well, we need a better word than 'busy.' :-) Don't worry, I'm still writing too, faster than ever in fact (I have a full thirteen chapters in my backlog that I need to get to editing). But here are some of my favourite images I've created. Here's Laura, a bit older than she was in her story:

Dina, part 3

Nearly three weeks had passed since I sent in my application form for what had quickly become known as ‘SYWTBAA’ online and, as time went on, I’d begun to put it further and further toward the back of my mind. In between my work, my meetings with Dr Clarke and my increasingly desperate efforts to keep my family in the dark about ‘Dina Williams,’ the idea of becoming Britain’s next ‘Angel,’ which had been a long shot to begin with, started to look more and more like a fairytale. This, however, didn’t stop me from exploring all the delights that being ‘Dina’ had to offer.

Ian, part 25

I let out a surprised and mildly annoyed grunt as I’m awakened by the feel of someone crawling over me — though the grunt quickly turns into a low moan of satisfaction as I feel a pair of breasts in a sports bra threaten to smother my face.

“Sorry babe, did I wake you?” Leanne asks, barely suppressing a giggle. “I just need to check my phone, see if I’m needed actually IN the office today.”

“There IS a nightstand on the other side of the bed,” I remind my girlfriend, who responds by just leaning more of her weight on my head — something I, obviously, have no problem with!

Dina, part 2

I took a deep breath to stop my heart from fluttering at the sight of the girl in front of me. Long, shapely legs encased in glossy translucent tights emerged from a tiny, almost skin-tight black skirt. Her curvaceous chest was covered by a thin light grey t-shirt, and tiny flats with delicate bows covered her feet. Her make-up was immaculate, with her face free from any blemishes, her eyebrows shaped to perfection and her mouth enhanced by nude matte lipstick and lipliner.

Dina, part 1

"William!" My father hissed quietly. "Look at the camera!"

"Sorry, dad," I whispered as I turned my attention back to the photographer, who was ready to capture today's visit for posterity. Though in my defence, as an eight-year-old boy, it was natural for me to be distracted by the visitors who came to my grandfather's home — after all, it's not every day that you have your photograph taken with the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh.

The Tenth Anniversary

“And… we’re fine,” Jamie said as she showed her husband the two test strips they had prepared twenty minutes earlier. “I’m not sure that my make-up is from how much sneezing I did after shoving that thing up my nose, though…”

“GIRL,” Stuart teased his wife, who giggled and stuck her tongue out at him before checking her make-up in the mirror one more time. “Though I’m not going to miss covid tests either, heh. Assuming we ever get to the point where missing them is an option. Hard to believe it’s already been a year since the first lockdown.”

AI Art

I've heard a lot recently about the 'rise of AI'. I've heard a lot about how it might be harmful to creators in the long run. Well... as someone who can't draw for shit, it's actually kinda useful to me. A while ago I used a (very limited) program called Fuse to create images of my characters as a sort-of mental aide. The problem with these images is that it made all my characters look about as lifelike as background characters from Skyrim. So I investigated this 'AI art generator' people were talking about... And I am impressed with its output so far.

Lisa, part 5

“Have fun!” Sonia says, only half paying attention to me as I zip up my coat and head out the front door, heading to school for only the fourth time this year.

Twins, part 13

“You okay?” Lucy asked her American friend, who paused to take several deep breaths before replying.

“Yeah,” Phoebe replied, momentarily lowering her mask to take a deep breath, but making sure to raise it back before exhaling. “I dunno if it’s the mask or not, but this is kinda harder than I remember!”

“Okay,” Kacey- the leader of the class- said as she observed the two students taking time getting their breath back. “I think that’s as good a time as any to take a break. Lucy, can I have a word please?”

Stephanie, part 28

“Tonight, I’m gonna have myself a real good time…” The sound of singing comes from our living room, waking me from my dreamless slumber. However, it’s not Freddie Mercury’s flawless vocals that have woken me up, but rather, those of my girlfriend. “I feel light…”

“And the world,” I join in, earning a giggle from Kayla. “Is turning inside out…”
“And floating around,” we sing in perfect harmony. “In ecstasy, so
Don’t stop me now…
Don’t stop me, ‘cause I’m having a good time, having a good time!”

Lisa, part 4

“Another one?” Sonia asks as my phone pings to inform me of a new message. “Really?”

“Nothing else for us to do,” I reply with a shrug. “Not while we’re in tier 4, anyway.”

Ian, part 24

“Unf,” I grunt as I’m woken from a dreamless slumber by my phone, though it isn’t my alarm that wakes me, but rather an incoming call. I try to smile as I click the ‘answer’ button- normally I'd be happy to see the identity of the caller on my phone's screen, but it's much too early- and much too cold- for that right now.

“Good morning, Ian!” Grandma says with a cheerful tone. “Or rather, happy birth-eve!”

“Thanks, grandma,” I say quietly as I prop myself up in bed and huddle my sheets around my shivering form. “Is everything okay in Cardiff?”

Lisa, part 3

“Have a good day!” Sonia calls after me as I leave our flat, on my way to start another day of school.

“Will do,” I reply, even though deep down, I'm almost certain that I won't.

It’s been a month since I started my new school, and while I'm sure I might give the impression of having settled into the school, on the inside, my head is still spinning from my new circumstances.

Twins, part 12

“Luke!” Paul shouted up the stairs. “Come on, get out of bed, it’s nearly 10 o’clock and we’ve a lot to do today!”

“Yeah, alright,” Luke grunted in reply as he threw back his bed sheets and pulled on his dressing gown, only pausing to look at himself in the mirror before leaving his bedroom.

Soixante-Trois Airlines: Sophie, part 16

“How are the sales today?” Hayley asked as she returned to her flat to find Sophie sat on the sofa, checking her laptop.

“Still good,” Sophie replied with a smile. “I mean, yes, they’re tapering off, but that’s to be expected after this length of time, so- yeah. Publishers are still VERY happy though.”

“I still can’t believe I know a famous author!” Hayley teased, giggling as her friend rolled her eyes and blushed.

Lisa, part 2

“Liam?” Sonia calls from the living room, making me groan as I wake up. “Come on, time to get up!”

“Yeah, I’m awake,” I reply, not even bothering to stifle my yawn.

Ian, part 23

“Good morning, everyone,” Allan- my university lecturer- says as I (and no doubt all of the other students on my course) get my notepad out. “I’ll let you all have a couple of minutes to get set up, then we’ll begin.”

“I’ll talk to you later,” I say, mirroring the sad smile of the long-haired girl on my phone screen.

“Yeah,” Leanne sighs sadly. “I should be getting to work too in the next couple of minutes. Well, not technically ‘getting to’, but you know what I mean, right?”

Stephanie, part 27

“Hi!” I say with an excited squeak as I open the door and am greeted by the grinning, dark-skinned face of my bandmate. “Virtual hugs and kisses!”

“Virtual hugs and kisses!” Adeola giggles as we both hold our hands up and wiggle our fingers at each other- our latest attempt at a covid-safe greeting. “Is Becca already here?”

“Not yet, I think she’s still getting used to there actually being traffic on the roads of London!” I chuckle, before grinning as Adeola’s fiancé enters our flat carrying an expensive-looking bottle of wine. “Hi Marco! Virtual hugs!”
