So I finally got a figure on what my pension would be. Due to my 'young' >so not laughing< age of 34 they are retiring me, I would have about 545 euros a month. It's a very good thing that I'm a civil servant so that up's to 1236 euro a month conditionally >aka can't work or they take the supplement away and if I go over 5000 euro I lose the entire pension<.

The dresser, what else did you think I meant? The piece of furniture I mentioned a week ago has finally come together, mainly through the help of my next door neighbour who provided the muscle to get the top cupboard onto the bottom. It took me much longer to clear the space and to clean and polish the dresser which is slightly more damaged than I'd first appreciated, it being twisted on its base slightly - it's not noticeable unless one is looking for it, though it does affect the way the doors shut on the bottom: something I can probably remedy - the doors that is.

I knew someone - someone from work who I thought of as a friend, but she probably didn't.   She was a pretty brunette, very popular, super smart, outgoing, lots of friends and very ambitious (but in the good sense of the word).  I didn't know her too well, really, and despite having met her face-to-face just a few times, I liked her a lot, and I thought of her as a friend, like I said.   I just hope that she remembered me in the same way, although I think that was a futile hope, given how many people she knew.

Living on a bouncing mood, Today is the birthday of my oldest daughter she is 11 years old today. My youngest will be 8 on the 14 of October. My step son my girls half brother will be 24 on the 27 of October. All of these People have enriched my life so much that I could never think of what my life would have been like with out them. My step son is an upstanding young man who is putting himself through school and has weathered a lot of stormy life experiences with both his honor and humor intact.

Pickles, Piggles, Bill.... A Great Man.

I'm going to make this post, as Celebration of the Man I knew. One of the few people in my life, with that designation, that I can say was a positive influence on my life.

First the sad part...

Bill will be removed off life support/respirator in the morning.

He had a major stroke about 2 weeks ago, and has been unconscious and unresponsive for the last week. The doctors have decided that there is no chance of his body making any recovery, he also has a high fever that they can't get to go down.

Bill was a great Man. He wasn't a politician, he wasn't a super hero, but his present affected many in this community.

Sorry I need a place to vent Before I explode,. I would like to share some recent information I just discovered. My step Father the terror of my life passed away last year, he received a glowing sendoff by his new family and friends. New because when my mother died in 1999 January 1, he remarried and lived for another 12 years. His obituary held a wealth of information including all of his surviving kin from his recent marriage, all of his community service his square dancing with his new wife etc.

Anyone looking to BE a roommate?

I have a short window of opportunity to purchase a Mobile Home from a friend at a low monthly rate direct from him.

It's in North Vernon, IN about 65 miles South of Indianapolis and I can't afford the Mortgage + Utilities and Food on my own. I'd bee looking for someone that could contribute between $300 and $400 per month which would include rent, electric, water + sewer and internet.

For those of you that don't know, Bill has been in the hospital for 7 days now... I won't go into what got us there, but he has a UTI, a pretty bad one, and he should be going from hospital to Nursing Home, and from there to another Long Term Nursing Facility...

I don't get out of the house much... In the last several months, I've only been able to go about 2.5 blocks from the house, due to the fact that I'm Bill's 24/7 caregiver when Bill is at home, and we don't have a working car.

I had a sobering dose of reality delivered to me by four of the women in my life today. My, mother, sister and two sister's -in-law pretty much told me I have been fooling myself that I could ever think I could ever be successful as a woman the way I have been going. I went to our family reunion yesterday and today my sister-in-law proceeded to chop whatever self confidence I had left in myself to shreds. She told me that I just "existed" in that room yesterday and my body language showed I didn't care. It seems like I am doomed to failure in the make up department too.

As part of my meticulous planning for this trip, I managed to leave my Trazidone at home. By the time I got home, I'd been off it two days, and last night I felt I was doing so well that maybe this was the time to just quit it cold turkey.

Well, my daughter has her graduation ceremony for grade 6 on Thursday, and I'll be in drag for the day - wearing boy clothes, at the insistence of her mother. I had already promised to wear clothes that were gender-neutral, but that wasnt good enough for her. The other night while I helped her do her 2nd job she demanded I not be so selfish and put on male clothes so as to cause no disruption in either the ceremony itself or the small party that will be afterward for my daughter and my family.

This is partially an FYI, partially a request for help.

Bill and I (and our Chocolate Lab Penny) recently had to re-locate to a local hotel.

The reason, as you probably suspect, is that "Black Mold" was found in our home.

Much of our furniture and other things are going to be tossed out in the process of cleaning the house.

This process includes tearing up all the carpets, and scrubbing all the walls, floors, and ceiling with bleach to make sure it's ALL GONE.

Moe and I are back home and found our house to have been meticulously cleaned as only my ma is capable of.   Kitchen, living room, bathrooms all spic n span, and bed clothes nice n crisp n clean (I know ma did the wash coz the sheets smell faintly of Huggies), front n back yards clean and well raked (probably Dad) and a note on the living room table saying that two of the microwavable "Friends" mugs got broken (Aha! That's my sister!).

Anyway, the at-home feeling came back slowly and we settled in.   But what didn't come back was how the weather felt.   Egads, it's cold!!

So Moe n I broke out a couple of our long-unused sweaters, and made plans to pick a nice n wooly sweater ensemble for work the following day.   But why was it so friggin cold all of a sudden?   I checked the thermometer. It was a nice eighty degrees. Eh?

Well, tomorrow is Mother's day, and my store has been pushing hard for sales, but looking at all the pink signs pointing out discounts on home appliances, weepy movies, and flowery perfumes got me wondering.

What if you had a mom who didnt fit the nice neat little stereotype? What if your mom would prefer to watch an action film than a three-hankie weepie? What if she's more comfortable with power tools than with knitting needles? Do those types of moms get left behind?

A minor rant:

Do children know how to be bored and occupy themselves any more? I think the answer is no. They are always connected to something. In the car they get DVD players. When shopping with mom they have handheld video games. Waiting at the hospital they have laptops. In school they have Ipads. We are raising a generation that is not going to know how to be creative. Maybe that's why every movie from the 80s is being remade.

We had a late business lunch with this movie/TV personality & print model yesterday, at a very, very upscale (not to mention expensive) out-of-the-way little restaurant in one of the five-star hotels in the main business district.   She was a very sweet and friendly girl, and had a big fund of funny stories to tell and had most of us giggling and laughing, much to the consternation of her personal assistant, since we were starting to bother the nearby tables.

But what really got us to pay attention was that she was drop-dead gorgeous. As in REALLY drop-dead gorgeous.

Was I jealous? Nahhh...
