The shampoo and conditioner did their job again, leaving my hair feeling luxuriantly thick. I’d also noticed it was longer than it had been. I mean sure, hair grows so you’d expect it, but half an inch in a day? It looked untidy and ready for a cut when I put it into my habitual side parting, so I experimented, ending up with something that wouldn’t have looked out of place on Jamie Lee Curtis. Needless to say, it did look a little odd on me, but with a nightie on, decidedly less so.

I was still in my nightdress when the doorbell rang the next morning. Fortunately, I’ve never quite lost the paranoia accompanying the possibility of being found out, so I always have a dressing gown nearby. This one was long enough to cover the depths of white lace currently cascading off my shoulders, so all I needed to do was pull it on and cinch the tie tight.

Alex had a terminal Cancer diagnosis and thought she would die before she got to be the girl she always was inside. That all changes when she's in the wrong place at the right time and gets transported to another world and into the body of a girl. So what if she's not human, she's alive and a girl. Now if only she had her sister with her to navigate this new world and her new responsibilities. Wait, she's here too? The passage of their souls between worlds may have doomed the Earth to apocalypse, but Alex and Michelle won't be there to see it and they have enough problems on their hands.

“Situation resolved, Peter,” Mr Cavendish said. “Perhaps you’d make sure Gwen is looked after. She has no homework for a couple of days at least.

“Thank you, headmaster. Gwen, you’re welcome to come home with us today, and bring Lance with you if you wish. We’ll manage somehow.”

“That’s wonderful, Querida,” Lourdes said, pausing just long enough to give me a radiant smile. “Such a relief! And now . . . now you will have something to celebrate!”

I agreed on the basis that it was the easiest way to move things on. There really wasn’t anything else on offer that particularly interested me so I had a vested interest in trying to enjoy the costume making.

I leaned against the formica walls, wishing that my heartbeat would return to normal. I can’t live like this.

“Natalia… Natalia”, I barely registered the voice. “Oi, Natalia!” Calvin almost shouted, it took a moment before I realised he was talking to me, while I'd often thought of myself as Natalia, I clearly was not yet fully used to others referring to me with the name.

“You only have like 4 hours before mum and dad get home, Laura will be over later, you should probably get up.”

“Maybe,” I said to the girl in the mirror. “Just maybe – you’ll do, Carmen.”

Helen finally meets with her dad after years of being apart. It’s been a very long time since I last posted. Yes, I’m still alive. Yes, I’m still writing. But I’m doing it for me. She’s gonna sound different than you guys remember. Because she’s supposed to be grown up, but she’s still in there that scatterbrain you still remember. Anyway, I hope you enjoy.

The thirty-year-old man who had gotten her pregnant stood just outside the bedroom where two older women helped her through the birthing process. The older man had been hoping the girl would give him a boy, instead of a girl. He wanted a boy to carry on his bloodline.
