Zoe,
All I can say is "Awwwwwwww"; and I am very glad the real Nicole finally came out to everyone. She seems to be a real sweetie when she wishes to be. Should be really interesting when they all go back to school. Hugs, Jan :)
Awww...
...was the word that came to my mind too. Really nice segment.

Ooh, what a sweet chapter.
Ooh, what a sweet chapter. Robin and Nicole make a great couple. I love it! ^_^

A few comments, and a question.
Well, let's see.
I would hope that Robin is actually going to have this kind of idea of a good time... Just not as soon! ;)
Allison is a real friend, if a devious girly-girl! And isn't Nikki an adorable angel... When she wants to! ;) But it is apparent she can also be quite a hellion!
Nikki's 'rents. They are a precious couple, but do they have kids of their own and if they don't, why?

I got the definite sense (Edited to add)
that Bob and Gina wanted children of their own, but were never able to conceive, so instead decided to become foster parents.
Nicole would've been either their second or third ward, but with her very special case, and Nicole's insistance that she be allowed to stay (Plus some other shinnanigans pulled by her birth parents that are revealed later), they ultimately decide to "keep" her permanently so to speak.
It's entirely possible they'll take on another foster kid or even adopt another child now that Nicole's making such a huge turnaround though, if she manages to actually stay this way ;-)
Edit: As I was revising a few chapters ahead, I kept getting this nagging feeling I was forgetting something in my comment. Now I remember what it was :-D
Most assuredly! ;-) Robin's been crushing on Nikki from the moment they met, and likewise for Nikki. They've agreed to remain friends for now, but this will be far from the last we'll hear of their budding romance :-D
Maybe a little romance is what Robin needs
that or very close friends as our author Zoe has hinted the next chapter(s) will be darker after this lighthearted one.
I assume mom gets much worse or dies or recovers but is severely brain damaged or some other awful calamity. Or Robin is outed and attacked, maybe by Nicole's jerk of an ex-boyfriend? Robin has been a good influence on her new friends, a catalyst to their betterment. I hope they can help the child'
A fun yet bittersweet romp so far. Quite impressed.
John in Wauwatosa
P.S. From the previous chapter I got the distinct impression the nice lady doctor's husband is the jerk she first went to. Robin said the voice on the phone sounded like him. Just very different people professionally who in private life are a good match or was that a Mutt and Jeff, good cop bad cop test to prove she was serious about being a girl in her heart?
John in Wauwatosa
Zoe, this was a fun chapter.
Thank you I really loved it, nice clean loving fun!
It's good to see Robin helping her sister and thinking of some part time work to help with these expenses she is incurring with her new wardrobe and cosmetics?
Nice to hear about Mum now and then even though it's mainly bad news, the leter was a great touch!
Nikki's parents is an interesting variation i don't think they would have been mentioned if you weren't going to use them in further chapters (am I right) sounds like they may have been in the Columbian drug rackets?
I'm slowly catching up on your story should have read it all on or before the weekend!
Thanks again for the entertainment.

This story continues its greatness.
I love your story, and will continue to look for continued updates. I just hope Robin's mother gets better so that she can meet her new daughter.

Becoming Robin - 11 & 12 -
Nicole and Robin have what many other couples lack, a common bond in their past. Nicoles liking girls and Robin wanting to be a girl.

like it.
It's nice, sort of innocent too.
First love :)
We'll see.
Time will tell.
That and the author :)
It is not unheard of that a post op tg would
become lesbian after the surgeries are completely healed. What Robin and Nikki are feeling is lesbian affection for now. But after Robin's surgeries heal, Robin asnd Nicole will start up their relationship full steam. Maybe. A lot can happen between now and then, but there is one recurring fact; Robin wants to stay Robin. The meeting with the mom was an edge of the seat (or chair) suspense thing. I was waiting for her to bite poor Robin's head off and feed it to the gargoyles. But alls well that ends well. The scene at the restaurant was super. But I have a problem with one thing though. Here in Michigan, you cannot serve an alcoholic beverage to a minor child in a public establishment. But the "date" was adorable though.
Now as I said in my last comment, a coma can last a day, a week, a month, maybe months, a year, or even years. But people have been known to wake up from them and live their lives as though nothing happened. Robin's mom just has to get better because she needs to see her daughter and care for her. Maybe Linda could even move in with Margie and Robin. That way Robin wouldn't have to go back to the Bay. Anyway just a few ramblings from an old worn out shoe. :)

Regarding their drinks
I couldn't find anything about minors being allowed even wine unsupervised, and in fact, Connecticut law specifically seems to categorize wine under its liquor laws, so to err on the side of caution I've changed that ambiguous line very slightly. :-D
I originally left it ambiguously unstated because I couldn't, for the life of me, remember how U.S. laws tended to handle "lighter" drinks like wine, but like I said, after looking into it, I decided to go ahead and clarify.
Besides, Nikki's already gotten herself into trouble in the next chapter set, so she doesn't need any help from me or the restaurant ;-)
Edit: Going to just take out that part entirely because, on further reading, it turns out even "non-alcoholic" beverages still have as much as 1% alcohol, making them illegal to sell to minors.
(Also fixed the comment to show the edited version within the story. And now I'm going to go lie down :-D)
This shows exactly how little I actually knew about alcoholic beverages. I haven't had a "drink" since I tried some of my grandpa's 'shine when I was a kid. ;-)
That was just the cutest
Although I do kinda wish I'd gotten to know Nikki before she got all genteel and civilized.
I keep stumbling across comments about later chapters that seem to imply that there's trouble
a-brewing in the parts ahead---mention of guns and whatnot---that I quickly divert my eyes from so
the plot doesn't get spoilered for me. Nothing like a good mix of romance and drama, humor and heartbreak
& self-discovery & trips to the salon to keep a t.g. story interesting. Awesome so far & I got great hopes for the rest if it!
~~~hugs, Laika
Nicole's definitely making
Nicole's definitely making an active attempt to behave herself and change her ways. It all comes out in the latest chapter (which I won't spoil, of course ;-)) as to why she was such a little rebel for such a long time. :-D
I don't know if this is
I don't know if this is where Laika was going with her comment or not, but I have been thinking that it would have been nice to see more of 'goth girl' Nicole. But then, I've been known to be a little goth, myself... ;)
Oh, definitely
Oh, definitely. The original incarnation saw a great deal more 'on' time. Actually, I had originally planned for the guy that held the elevator for her to BE Jason, and for Robin to be the reason he dumped Nicole. I actually don't remember why I threw out this sub-plot because in retrospect, it sounds like it could've been fun.
I think I was feeling that it all sounded a little too convenient, though. Then again, so has a lot of this story ;-)
Unfortunately, I missed out on the chance for some epic drama in the process :-(
Coming along nicely!
I think one thing that definitely helps cement the three girls relationships with each other is that they all have "history". Allison saw her older brother become her older sister, Nikki's had a dramatic childhood and is only now learning to return her adoptive parents' kindness, and of course Robin has both the gender issues and having a seriously ill mother.
I can certainly imagine they'd keen in touch in the long term - and it's entirely possible they've forged life-long friendships with each other.
As the right side of the brain controls the left side of the body, then only left-handers are in their right mind!
Where Relationships Go
Zoe,
Neat lifelike style in writing. The story seems to have a life of its own. How it unfolds, taking one faster sometimes, an in places it did not see itself going. I could feel for that second kiss to come.
I like the conversation between, not characters of a story, but people in life.
Hugs,
