Chapter 1 – Pants, Shirt, and the Adventurer’s Guild, Meow

Steph strode into Greenbrook with determination, her grip tightening around the frayed remnants of her rope belt. She made a valiant effort to project an air of belonging, though it was a challenge when her long tail, elegantly adorned, was coiled around her waist like an ill-fitting seatbelt. The fabric of her robe clung precariously to her form, held together more by sheer hope than any practical fastening, fluttering at the slightest movement as she navigated the familiar streets.

Alex had a terminal Cancer diagnosis and thought she would die before she got to be the girl she always was inside. The package was the type that set off alarm bells in parents’ minds while sending a thrill of excitement through teenagers. Its sleek black cardboard exterior exuded an air of mystery, and the silver foil logo gleamed like a tantalizing mirage, catching the light with an almost hypnotic shimmer: AURELIA ONLINE.

The palace lanterns flickered to life, their gracefully curved, lotus-shaped flames illuminating the night with a warm, ethereal glow. Shadows stretched and danced across the intricate jade pillars of the throne hall, creating a tapestry of light and dark. The air was thick with an electric hum, infused with protective wards that swirled like whispers around them, empowered by the Kitsune Queen’s shimmering foxfire and the primal echoes of the Werewolf Queen’s growls, which resonated like distant thunder.

We ended up planning a combined graduation and wedding. I managed to find a wedding dress for three hundred dollars and spent another eighty getting it tailored down to fit me. One thing I didn’t tailor was the bust. It was designed for C or D cup boobs, and it was cheaper to buy C-cup breast forms to fill them than fix that part of the dress. And why not? It would help me look more womanly, and it was something I should have done years ago.
