A Prince's Tale

Just a little ditty to keep my poetic license. Besides, all's fair in love and war.

A Prince's Tale
By shalimar
Copyright 1964, 2001

In days of old
This prince was bold
with women undercover

He had to confess
He'd wear a dress
If he fought another

A war broke out
There was a rout
He had no horse to ride

You could understand
Our prince he ran
He had to save his hide

He met a witch
No ordinary bitch
She saw our prince's fear

He lost his pride
"I've got to hide
Or they'll kill me over here."

And with a motion
She gave him a potion

If Emotions Were Colors

What if emotion were colors?
What if a tear could turn your whole body blue?

What if a smile could turn you yellow?
And a laugh into pink?

What if lonely was a deep purple?
And hopeless was grey?

Joy could be gold,
And green would be apathy.

I wonder, then, would people still ignore it?
Would they be able to ignore depression?

Do you know?

Do you know what it’s like to hate everything about yourself?
To hate your hair style and the shape of your toes?
To hate every thought in your mind and every word that you speak?

Do you know what it’s like to plaster a smile on your face?
To fool the world that you’re happy, and to fool yourself?
To pretend that nothing hurts, and that this act actually matters?

I know what it’s like to hate everything about myself.
I know what it’s like to plaster a smile on my face.
What I don’t know, is if I can do it again tomorrow.

Life is

life is finding yourself no mater what .
life is making decisions based on no information , and screwing up most of the time.
life is helping those who cant help them selves , making sure we all get a fair shot .
life is being non judgmental and giving your shoulder for some one to cry on .
life is listening to the thoughts of others enjoying their company even at 300 in the morning .
life is choices made in good faith .

The Girl Inside
By Julie D Cole

As I looked into the mirror it gave me quite a fright,
I’m getting old, an aging man and it’s not a pretty sight.
My hair is limp my face is drawn and as I took a look down there,
Where’s it gone, it’s hard to say, with all this body hair.

I stood and stared for ages, not a pretty sight at all,
Reflecting on my life so far, then at a picture on the wall,
A woman in her prime of life, her beauty plain to see,
A picture taken years ago, Mmm was that really me?

Happiness is a Warm Vagina

A few weeks ago, I had an idea of a song to "hack".
I played around a little and here it is!

I Heard New Bells on Christmas Day

I Heard New Bells on Christmas Day

Here are lyrics for what I pray will meet with your approval as a Christmas carol expressing the hope that our culture will learn not merely to tolerate or to accept, but rather to fully embrace transfolk, whether merely androgynous, crossdressed, partially or fully transexual, or intersexed. These lyrics work with both the traditional melody by John Calkin or the modern tune by Johnny Marx. (The one by Casting Crowns doesn't fit the rhythm of the fourth and fifth lines of each stanza.)

I just wish that I had thought of these sooner…

Jess is a girl (Thanks to Renee M for the edit)

this is based on the old song "Jessie's girl", a version of which can be found here:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hiaKiqIsi2s

Jess is my name,
yeah, they said I've been a boy all my life,
But today something changed
that ain't hard to define.
Now they know I am a girl and that I was all the time.
I was watching girls with my eyes;
And I was envying their bodies,
couldn’t hold it.
And I was praying to my God
every single night.

But now, they know that Jess is a girl,
they know that Jess is a girl.

Make My Day

by Julie D Cole

When someone says ‘I hate you’ it often brings a tear,
Especially when the words are from the ones we hold most dear,
Hate is rarely ever meant, but it’s like a bullet from a gun,
The shooter aims, the shot is loud and lots of pain will come,

But ‘Love’ is like an arrow that that flies from archers bow,
It often strikes without a sound, so the target doesn’t know,
So if you hear ‘I love you’ even though from far away
More tears will come, but the feelings good,

I found the girl inside the boy,
Found out it was cause for joy,
For in unity man and woman are not parted, but
Are whole as one being in spirit with flesh unstarted.

To find comfort in self a balance must be found,
Male need find their female as well as the other way 'round.
It matters not what body as long as there be balance of spirit
When finding joy in life and all within it.

On the whole it matters not what sex we are born,
Be just glad to be alive no matter the form.
Although usually what we get we need keep and
on the whole I feel no need to weep.

If I Could But Hie To Kolob

Psalm of a LDS Transgendered 1

by Abigail Drew

O, but if I could hie to Kolob,
E’en in but a twinkling of an eye.
O, then might I turn back the pages,
E’en back till before my mortal birth.

Then, but might I then reconsider...
E’en that great and dreadful decision...
O, that terrible terrible choice.
E’en which now wracks my soul in torment.

Transsexual in Hiding

Hey everyone! Here's my first post to topshelf and I just wanted to make it short.

The first line to this poem has been bouncing around my head for a few days and I just decided to go with the flow and see where it left me.

Transsexual in Hiding

Clawed and clawed 'till fingers bare
This costume which I seem to wear,
Myself I hide in darkness deep
So very long she's been asleep,
But now I want her up and out
So she can see the world about,
For as she sleeps down darkness deep
Her memories will slowly seep

Why is being transgender so complicated?

Uh huh, life sucks like this

Uh huh, that’s the way it is.

‘Cause life sucks like this

And that’s the way it is.

(Verse 1:)

Sometimes, wonder what I’m striving for

‘cause I’ve always failed before

But if you could look in me, you might see

I’d like to be myself at last

no more controlled by my past

This is the message I send

tired of having to pretend

(Chorus)

Salut d'Amour
Lyrics by mittfh, tune by Edward Elgar

Listening to Elgar's piece this morning, I thought it sounded very lyrical. Unable to find any sung versions other than this cute K-pop version, I hit upon the idea of writing a TG-themed set of lyrics to the tune. The first lyric came pretty quickly - I apologise for the second - there aren't many words that rhyme with "am"! Verse 2 was written during a quiet helpdesk session this afternoon, and the bridge this evening.

I've tried to keep as close to the tune as possible, although it does get a little tenuous at times (the tune's bridge deviates from uniformity towards the end, as does the final verse). Anyway, enough waffling, on with the lyrics...

I’m Touching You

By Julie D Cole

To A special friend amongst us who I want to touch today. No names.

Because you gave me your support when I first joined this site,
I carried on,what joy I found — at last a chance to write,

I looked at lots of work you’ve done and the Kudos you have scored,
So many girls have read your words, like me they’re never bored,

Because you touched me many times, since you said that first hello,
I’m now touching you with my good luck — and I just thought you should know,

Whilst some of us get all the breaks and others, just a few,
I’m passing on what ones I can, but this special one's for you.

Life is for Living - Another short verse

Life is for Living
by Julie D. Cole

Life is for living, for fun and for joy,
So we shouldn’t feel sad if born as a boy,
But some of us do ‘cos our feelings aren’t right,
Not all of us boys play football and fight,

Some are just gentle and quiet, like a mouse,
And others like dolls and to join girls to play house,
So why can’t it be that when we get to eight,
We just visit the doc before it’s too late’
