The First Ten Days of Winter

To the tune of ‘The 12 days of Christmas’ and inspired by a blog by Angharad — who would probably have kept quiet had she known the implications.

Sorry it’s only ten days; explanation at the end.

Flowering Hearts (Question and Answer)

Flowering Hearts (The Question)

My heart is like a flower,
each heart break causes a petal to fade.
Every girl I love that can’t return the love,
that’s a heart break, another petal fades.
Every girl that pretends to love me and tosses me to the side,
that’s another heart break, another petal fades.
Every girl that says she can’t love me because your a girl or not a girl...
that’s another heart break another petal fades.
The petals of my heart are fading,
there’s another heart break … They are almost gone...
When the last petal fades,
will I still be able to go on…or will I fade away?

Long before I was Lauren I was Laura. But owning a name for my hidden identity doesn't mean I accepted her. In fact on one particularly bad stretch of the road to acceptance I tried my best to kill her off.

The Demon (Inspired by "The Raven" by Edgar Allen Poe)

Once upon a midnight dreary, while I brooded weak and weary
Some demonic cloud the likes of which I’d never seen before
All at once took shape before me, making all my soul implore me
“Flee this evil dark and stormy, quit the room, go out the door!”
Yet it moved so that I could not leave the room, or reach the door
I could but stare and nothing more

Another piece that I wrote at the end of High School. This will probably be my last piece for a bit, while I try to tackle a larger piece.

In the beginning, everything always seems so simple
Then we learn the truth that it hides,
We feel anguish in the morning
Suffering during the day
And the unbearable pain at night

What am I?
For being such a simple question, it carries with it a lot of weight,
I am a liar, a fake, a loner.

I am the person you see but do not remember,
The face you speak to but cannot recall,
The body you look over but forget.

Lasting Love
by MonaLisa

A strong desire to find the one
To set the moon and raise the sun
A wish to all the powers above
A dream of finding lasting love

A heart so full of deep chagrin
A melancholy tale to spin
A wish to all the powers above
A dream of finding lasting love

A latent hope so very deep
A drowsy prayer and restless sleep
A wish to all the powers above
A dream of finding lasting love

Plague of Night
By MonaLisa

Plague of night so blights the soul
And weighs upon the weary mind
Stars in moonless skies remind
Of boundless void that swallows whole

Sparkling, shining starlight seems
So far away and out of reach
The soul is left but to beseech
The fates to grant her fervent dreams

The faithful soul does ever sing
Her lonesome serenade reprise
Yearning for the sun to rise
And dawn's sweet light and warmth to bring

Agony of Life

I wrote this back in High School so please excuse its rough nature, however I always thought it captured a few of the things I felt rather well. I have never coded in HTML so this will be a little interesting to see how it turns out. And without further wait, my first and hopefully not my last contribution to this wonderful website:

MISSING

I leave behind the usual clutter
Of unfinished business,
Regrets, and roads not taken in life

I also leave my heart poured out on paper
Undiscovered glimpses of my life
To be enjoyed by any who find them good

Or perhaps to be ridiculed,
As being to soft and light for the modern world

Whatever the fate of my work,
It seems petty, in the face of the poetry
Of my true and final resting place

I say now to those who might care for me
“Do not look for me in the harsh lights of the city
Nor in the cool foothills of the mountains
I have gone home to stay”

Tho' things might be frightful
Right here it's delightful
We're cozy and out of the way
And as far as I'm concerned, it's a lovely day
We're posting our stories
And there aren't any worries
So I can honestly say
That as far as I'm concerned, it's a lovely day
And everything's okay

Isn't this a lovely day?

Happy Friggin' Returns

Straight from their Real Life Test Tour, The Pelegrino Girls, Missy and Patsy sing their newest hit Happy Friggin' Returns from the CD, Emo-tional Femmes Redux

Happy Friggin' Returns!!!!

Dedicated to the Anniversary of Erin's birth!

someone once sang these words
thinking things would change

wouldn't it be nice if we were older
then we wouldn't have to wait so long
and wouldn't it be nice to live together
in the kind of world where we belong

but since then things have gotten colder
even though we've prayed for oh so long
sorta like we'll never get together
so we decided that we'd sing this song

The gratitude of a lifetime for those of you here;

The gratefulness I absolutely need to show.

just not for me might be your confession

How Lovely to Be Transgender

When you're a smallish boy of fourteen,
You're faced with nothing but fear,
You wonder if you'll ever be accepted.
Then glory be, you are fifteen
And question all that you've known
And you've more than just grown
And you feel that you're somehow rejected.

Jessi's Girl

I'd been listening to the song, Jessie's Girl by Rick Springfield, when I started wondering what the song might be like if a few of the words were changed. The results of that musing can be found in the lyrics below. :)

She'll Be Comin' Down The Street When She Comes
by Barbara Lynn Terry

She'll be comin' down the street when she comes
She'll be comin' down the street when she comes
She'll be comin' down the street when she comes
She'll be comin' down the street, She'll be comin' down the street
When she comes

She'll be driving a white Mercedes when she comes
She'll be driving a white Mercedes when she comes
She'll be driving a white Mercedes when she comes
She'll be driving a white Mercedes, She'll be driving a white Mercedes
When she comes

We'll all stand to greet her when she comes
