A warning to begin. I am not thinking of anything dumb, or stupid, or suicidal. What follows are thoughts that passed through what I laughingly refer to as my mind... nothing more or less than that. I felt that I needed to get them out where I could see them and examine what they might or might not mean. Please do not read anything into them that isn't there.

Islands

I really don't know much about poetry, but I wrote this at time of darkness in my life. The love and understanding of my partner helped me through it and pulled me out my dark thoughts.

One Summer Day

One Summer day, the girls who would be boys,

put on dirty clothing, and play with roughhouse toys

Once we figure out what we are
What we represent,
Our core.

Its time to make a decision.

What do we do with that information?

Do we chase our dreams?

We all have many dreams,

The water cascaded down.
She reached in, turned the shower's knob
The temperature was perfect

I make no apology for posting this. It has always spoken to me and, having read Drea's 'IF', I am reminded of it.

A very dear friend told me I should post this in a more permanant, less blog like form. Here it is.

A very long time ago, when I was just admitting to myself who I am, I scrawled out these lines.

A good friend "passed over the bar" recently, my muse has taken something of a holiday but left me with this thought to deal with. I will get back on track but right now this small doggerel is the best I can offer.

At School

I Never Pay Attention In Maths,

Broken

Was there ever a moment when I wasn’t broken?

Do my fractures have an origin, or was I conceived shattered, destined to be in pieces before I took a breath?

Ok, so here are a couple of songs I wrote for 12-String, when I was still writing songs. They're actually the two I lost and just ended up saying screw it about writing the songs :). The first one is the song that Keith wrote while sitting and waiting out in Nashville. Think of it as country twang with a rock beat. Yes, there is a LOT of sarcasm in this song.

It has been a while, yes, and no, this is not a new story from me (although I'm quite certain that if anyone was waiting, they stopped long time ago), but here, have a poem from the strange place that is my head.

Shame, Shame

“Its all my fault!

If I hadnt dressed like a girl

let my true self out for a twirl

he wouldnt have wanted to hurt me

take my body, then desert me

Why didnt I bash him on the nose?

what went wrong that made me froze?

So I stuff my girl self deep inside

even though it makes me cry

and within I start to die

Because it was all my fault!”
