I woke up in the morning and in a still-half-asleep state couldn’t remember where I was, and I suddenly realised that I was wearing a nightdress and had breasts and began to panic and get confused before it all came back to me.

This chapter focuses on how Skyler deals with his changes both physically and mentally.

 

 

Back at the apartment..

"You go take a shower, Miley, and remember to shave, everything below the belt."

"Everything?" I ask with a pleading look on my face.

"Everything," Abby commands leaving to our bedroom.

Now that I had finally decided not to stand for re-election in November, I got to thinking about other things but primarily Kelly, getting married and then what?

The ‘then what’ part was easy. A big grand-canyon shaped abyss. I had no firm idea what I was going to do once I was no longer Sheriff. My fall back was to work with Danny SWA. He was always advertising for rescue drivers so there was a job for me if I wanted it but something inside of me was telling me that something else would come up when the time came.

"Okay, time to hit the gym, big boy," Abby says, suddenly getting up to her feet from the couch.

"Can we skip this tonight?" I ask without much faith I'll get the answer I want.

"No, don't be lazy it's only the second day. Get up, I got you something." Abby sashays to our table, where she set down the bag she got from the mall. Abby pulls out a black garment, and tosses it in my direction.

I catch, and hold it up, "Are these.. leggings?"

Sitting in the drawing room afterwards with our arms around each other I was again getting romantic ideas in my head, when we were rudely interrupted by the shrill call of my phone, much to my disappointment.

It was well after four in the afternoon when I walked into our Office and spotted our visitor. He looked so out of place to be almost funny. He was dressed in a suit that would be ideal for a court in a big city. Custer County is a long way from any big city. He’d stand out a mile. People around here only wear suits for Weddings and Funerals. No one I knew could afford the duds that he was wearing.

“Mr Rieck? Sheriff Matt Harker. Welcome to Custer County.”

As I heard the sound of an engine grow fainter, I felt more despair at that moment than I have ever felt in my life.

When Mrs. Jameson arrived back at the hospital, she saw Jamie talking to his friends. Although she could tell that it was painful for him to talk, Jamie was more animated than she could ever remember him being. He had a huge smile on his face as his friends talked to him. When she heard the girlish giggle escape from Jamie's lips, she knew that this child truly was her daughter.
