Sounds of war can be heard in the distance. The airmen want to protect
the villages, so the natives have to be told what will happen if the war
comes to their island.

"Will you just
look at that?" Jack murmured to the others. Melanie was walking
towards them carrying baskets containing their lunch, her body
swaying with a natural rhythm that made the men's pulses quicken.
"Can you believe, just a few months ago, she was Paul? I see it
every day, but my brain still finds it amazing."
"It's a miracle,
that's what it is," Les opined. "If she was a Catholic,
she'd be in line for sainthood, that's for certain."
"Well, no,"
Doc said. "The saint would be the one who changed Paul into
Melanie, not Melanie herself. But I agree, she's a good mover, isn't
she, for someone who was a bloke when we landed."
