““Hey,” Erika called in a warm tone as I walked past the wide open door to her office. I stopped and backed up, poking my head inside. “You’re looking better,” she said and motioned for me to come sit, so I cautiously approached and took a seat in front of her desk.

“Thanks,” I said. “I didn’t mean to look so...”

“Angry?” Erika supplied. I blushed. “It’s okay. I was just worried about you. Claire told me you had a family emergency the other night. Is everything okay?”

The first day, we didn’t actually go in ourselves. We just poked equipment through the portal on poles of various sorts, and took readings from it. We didn’t get a GPS signal or cellular phone signal except for what came through the portal from here. By closing the door I’d installed, and using a longer pole, we concluded there was no trace of those signals.

Chapter 6

When we went back to the pool, Bertie was snuffling, a sure sign that he was starting to wake up. Jenny grinned.

“He’s a world class snorer. How do you put up with it?”

“He’s much better than he was when I first met him. He wondered why no girl would stay the night, so I told him to see a doctor to fix his deviated septum. I think that he appreciated my telling him the truth. Good earplugs help as well.”

I went to Bertie and gave him a kiss on his forehead. His eyes opened.

it was a meeting that i was worried about, how my family would react to the new me, although I had already made my decision and hoped that they would understand.

Chapter 4

The Cortina wasn’t a true copy of Tina, my original one, which ended her life bullet-ridden and on the roof of a Lowestoft car yard. Tina Too was tweaked by my pal Grayson, with better suspension, brakes, and some work on the Lotus engine, as well as a competition gearbox and high-ratio differential. She was placid around the city, but very hard to beat on the open road.

Chapter 1

It was a lovely day; the sun was out, and all was good in my world. I was driving my second love, my Daimler SP250 Dart. It was a car that encompassed so much of my history.

A couple months after the honeymoon, I was trying to track down a water leak that was dribbling water out into the restaurant’s dining room. They didn't have proper building plans, and they were only able to give me the same sort of map they might give guests. When I looked at the area of the leak, I noticed the map didn’t even match the building.

At the Saturday dinner with the charity, Willow and Marian gave them a list of the artists, along with the songs that they would perform. It was timed, based on the original tracks, with the ENO and Ginas’ parts estimated. All told, it would run for three hours.
