Stun guns for any overzealous security personnel. Also, they had a medical bag with enough sedative to knock out a whale and a few items to keep their prey under control for the trip to Bahrain and a large payday.

I wake up with the dead arm feeling and a smile. I can’t help the smile even with everything that Alex and I talked about and stuff. I’m happy and it’s hard to mess with that but I’m going to.

I slip out of bed and I go and I make a coffee and it’s pretty early but I’m up for a reason. I make a strong pot of coffee and I hold my mug under the perk until it’s full them slip the pot in. Lots of sugar and some creamer and I wait sitting on the steps in the garage just outside my door waiting for.

Okay I’m actually pretty embarrassed because of Tay tossing us the bottle of baby oil to me and Iggy like we’re two cheap hookers getting ready to oil wrestle. Iggy’s laughing which is a good thing and I set the bottle of baby oil down and stare at her.

“Are you done?”

“Fuck you he’s funny.”

“I know he’s funny along with a lot of other great things, that’s why I married him.”

She wipes at her eyes and she looks at me. “I need a smoke.”

“I need a coffee.”

The rest of the day was spent setting into mom’s at the guest room and us getting to take some time to rest before we all head out for the few things going on at evening and night here in town at memorial day.

Chris wears his uniform and so does Uncle Rothman who was in Vietnam. It’s interesting they’re both doing things together getting ready, watching the sort of regimined way they do everything is just. Well it’s really defining them in a good way for me. And Ben…I’m sitting on the couch hugging Stacy while we have some more chocolate and coffee and Uncle Roth and Chris are both answering his questions…they’re not graphic but they’re still honest and he’s got such a little-man look there.

We both kind of melt when they’re showing him how to shine his shoes. Oh my god he’s such an adorable little guy. He has this little boy look of concentration when they're doing the spit and polish thing.

“Shane.” I could feel the refusal in the way he said my name. The way that he is refusing everything I am.

“Steven….” I shiver but I feel Chris tighten his hold around me. God that helps so much.

“Why are you here? You think you’re welcome here?”

“Shut the hell up Steven.” Shawn says sort of snarling at him.

“Fuck you nerd, keep hiding behind you woman’s skirts. The little faggot shouldn’t be here.”

“Steven….” Uncle Roth says warningly.

“What? What you’re just here for what you can get Rothman. You never bothered with us before and now when things are all up in the air you’re here? The faggot’s here and….” He gestures at Chris. “And who the fuck is this?”

Chris just looked at him. “I’m your sister Shayne’s boyfriend.”

I mean Frank sexually assaulted me but when I fought back and took control it was like he just became someone else and that person wasn’t like anyone I’ve ever heard of before.

I push myself up to my feet and it takes a dozen staggering steps before I’m picking up speed and the soreness is going away from my muscles warming up. Dammit I’m just getting started I think and I know already that I’m going to be sore when this is over.

I snag a blaster from one of the fallen elves it’s bigger than the one that I had but I think I can use it. It’s this sort of a ceramic wheel lock looking weapon with a rectangular barrel instead of a round one and there’s a large red crystal set into the tech-magic circuits where a clip would get put in with a gun from home and it’s about six inches shorted than a pistol gripped style shotgun.

I go with that, I know shotguns pretty well.
