Decided to check some Old stories on the Storysite and found that it is down with both mirrors. Does anyone have any idea if it will return?

So after seeing the "Member for" indicator stuck on 5 years 12 months for the past few weeks, it's finally ticked over to 6 years 22 hours.

Sorry, for those who'd forgotten or didn't know, it's the Gabycon weekend. Nine of us assembled at a restaurant in Dorchester on friday and ate and talked and talked and ate, and ate some more. I think I gained two pounds looking at the menu.

Perhaps I missed the notice, so what's going on with FM? I haven't been able to access the site in several days. All I get is a Content Encoding Error, something about the site using an invalid or unsupported form of compression. Can I please buy a clue here?!?!

However, there's a whole lot more about how she moved from being a satellite communication engineer to form a medical company to keep alive her daughter who has a life-threatening illness, and about digitally saving our minds so we can be reborn at some time in the future!

For those that don't know of them, TED stands for Technology, Entertainment and Design, and the website contains videos of well-presented lectures on all kind of fascinating subjects.

I know. It's been a VERY long time since I've logged in here. I've been reading stories as and when I can, but my internet hasn't and still isn't particularly reliable. For about a year there I couldn't get my laptop to go on the internet at all, and my phone screen is just way too small to view this site well.

I think the word Standalone originated in the computing industry to mean capable of operating on its own without needing help from another similar thing. So when a story is described as Standalone, to me it means a story you can enjoy to its full, without having to read or refer to another story. Consequently, the episodes of a serial are not standalones, but a series would normally consist of a number of standalone stories.

The last few days I've been having trouble with the website. I've been periodically getting the Cloudfare cached site or a service unavailable error page (error 603 - I think). After a few minutes (or several minutes). I've been able to get back in. Are you having volume or system issues or being attacked? When the service is working, it doesn't seem slow

This morning BC seems to be going through a rearrangement on my iPad (there have been recent problems for iPad readers) and before I knew it I had for the first time posted on a 'Forum'. That woke me up to examine the home page further and I discovered 'Statuses'

Is there such a word as 'statuses'? A check of the dictionary suggests there is and it is the preferred plural of 'status' despite sounding odd. But what does it mean for a BC member? Is it like Facebook? Do you want to know that I was awoken today by the grunts and cries issuing from a passing dragon boat?

Today I understand and have sympathy for my late parents. They were it is true given to racist, sexist, homophobic, snobbish religious fundamentalism but nobody's perfect and they probably only wanted a little certainty in their lives.

Has anyone seen the article about Apple's next new product after the iPhone6? I was reading one of the online gadget sites and it appears that apple is about to release a toilet with Wifi access that will keep track of users waste in order to help with medical issues and also adapt to make better use of water/waste management. The $4000 unit is said to be able to save a family of 5 over $1000 a year and comes with a 10 year guarantee.

Is Crystal's Storysite dead for good? It's listed as also hosted by BCTS and the link is dead. When I click on the link, I get, "Server not found," the same as my link. It's been that way for some time now. Or is it that the site has been relocated and I just don't have the right link?

Well, once again, skype is playing f# %king games. Now it's telling me that I have been signed out and cannot connect to the server. Apparently the workaround I found on the Apple forums was only good for a few more weeks of using the older, more user friendly, simpler version of skype doesn't agree with their new version, which my computer won't run!

Either you get why it's funny or not...

For some reason when I logged in this morning I got a weird front screen, it loads details on left, no stories and nothing on right, I have to click on stories to see what is out, the problem is before I log in can see everything as usual, when I log in it gets wierd

It now appears that skype has BLOCKED any attempts to download and install older versions that will work on my MacBook OS 10.5.8 the new version of skype won't run on my OS. I cannot afford, at this time, an upgrade to my OS, so I guess I'm pretty much screwed. I can't even recover all my contacts and phone number, since I can't sign in to skype. This means my entire phone number list is lost.

Is anybody else having difficulties with the "Remember Me" aka "Persistent Logins"? I've tried a laptop with Vista, a tablet with Android and a phone with Android, and the same thing happens. I log in on the home page, select something I want to read, and click on it. But when the next page loads I'm logged out again. When I'm reading a long story like "Whisper" it gets annoying. My account page says I have one persistent login, but I see no way to toggle that setting to test it.

So, anybody?
