Ryan comes to the realization that he has lost not only his gender- but also fifteen years of his life. While this painful epiphany begins to break down the carefully formed walls of his masculinity and ego, he is forced into an uneasy alliance with Ashley, understanding that the two share common goals- escape. Meanwhile, the girls meet other victims, and the reason behind their transformation is revealed.

Excerpt:

My hands explored my face, feeling the delicate bone structure, the cherubic cheeks and the smooth hairless skin. Next, I peered down at my hands, as if seeing them for the first time. This was not some drug-induced nightmare. I couldn’t believe how tiny they looked, like the hands of a living doll. I flexed my fingers, wiggling them and then stared at the nails, which were adorned by a bright purple polish. My dainty toes were painted the same colour. I felt around the side of my head to my ear lobes, noticing little studs protruding from them.

After determining that the vaccine was the cause of the drastic changes to his body, Ryan was rushed to a hospital. During the journey, Ryan descends into the ether, a nightmarish world of sound but one devoid of sight. When he awakes, however, he isn’t greeted by the sterile white of a hospital room nor the smell of antiseptic, but something else entirely.

Sadly no one talks about the downsides of being and elv, especially not nowadays. Trust me, being a male elvin the 21th century I have experienced it first hand. You don’t believe me? While Ryan’s fever breaks, his body still feels off. However, with the rent due and no payment from the television show yet, he is forced to drag himself into work. While he masks any concern over his health with his usual bravado, his illness impacts his ability to do his job. Ultimately, this bravado, along with an unwillingness to see a doctor initially, could be his downfall.

Against the odds, Ryan manages to land the part, but should he heed the warnings about being typecast? Could he end up middle aged and still working in children’s programming? Also, after his run in with Ashley, he comes to the realization that she was at least partly right, but only partly. With this new awareness, he decides to pursue Jessica. However, even while attempting to change his life, old temptations still exist.

Chapter 3:

Amanda goes into her office and sits in her chair.

“My oh my what a day!”

*She then picks up her phone and dials up her husband.*

“Hey hun how’s you’re day been today?” Amanda’s husband asks.

“Oh it was great, and I have a surprise for you when you get home tomorrow.”

“Oh really? Well I can’t wait to see it.”

“By the way, you’ll be doing some assembling when u get home.”

“Ok hun that’s no big deal I figured I’d have to do something now that it’s spring.”

“Well hun I love you and I’ll see you tomorrow.”

I smile at him. “You know if you feed her coffee you’re going to get claimed by her in some way.”
He grins. “Oh I think I can deal with that.”
I shrug and get up. “Okay…you want to meet my friends; you get to meet my friends. On your head be it.”
I lead the way with him laughing behind me. “Oh I’m going to like you girls.”
You…girls…was that including me?

How?

Teaser: An old wooden bridge provided a short-cut for generations of schoolchildren walking to school. But now, the bridge is so rickety and rotten that children are warned in no uncertain terms to avoid that bridge.

“Laura…” Mum sighs as I head toward the front door.

“What?” I ask with mock-innocence, before sighing as mum simply stares at me.

“You know what…” Mum says, and I can’t help but roll my eyes as I tug down the hem of my short, straight grey skirt. “ALL the way.”

“Oh- come on,” I moan. “What am I, a nun?”

“No,” mum replies. “You’re a fourteen year old girl.”

Clair Wills was a happy child that had it all except for one thing. Was another girl to play games with? She did have a boy named Jay Stevens to play with but he was a boy. She made do with that on rainy days because Jay was stuck inside as well. She had tons of dolls and stuffed animals she only kept a few at the Stevens home. The bulk of her dolls and stuffed animals were at her house. Fifty dolls and over one hundred stuffed animals in all. Jay had one stuffed animal that Clair gave him because she had two that were the same.

“Beautiful, girls,” Miss Fullerton announces as the twenty-odd teenagers bow, before extending their arms and legs into the most elegant shapes. “Extend… And pointe.”

“C’est magnifique,” Mademoiselle Renou congratulates in her refined French accent. “Group one, you will continue practising at the barre. Group two, you will practise your pas de deux.” I, as a member of group two, nod, before following Mademoiselle Renou- not to mention a dozen leotard-clad teenaged girls- to the centre of the room.

Note 2: Once more, I apologize for the bits and pieces of canon dialogue/narration here and there. It's been frustrating me, too, but some things are just too perfect already to change. Which, fair warning, includes most of the conversation Fudge, Hagrid, Flitwick, and McGonagall have in The Three Broomsticks.

"I’m on the run, nowhere to go. Living where I can.” Those are the thoughts that are running rampant in the head of 7 year old Kyle. Kyle tries to forget what happened to his family, but he cannot out of fear for his life. What does life have in store for Kyle? Will he find the meaning of life? Or will he live in agony for the rest of his life?

Chapter 2 :

Introduction: Randi fills Charli in on what has been going on. Needless to say she is beyond happy. Tommie has a very pleasant surprise.

This story is another addition to The Cynthia Chronicles. Cynthia (Cindy) Brewer has graduated from medical school, and is well into her residency. The Wizard has difficulty remembering exactly where she is in her studies. Randi Lewis at age 18 is starting work on her Master of Science in Chemistry (read Randi and the Professor), and Charli Brewer will soon be a freshman in pre-med at UConn. Bobbie Anderson is setting the golf world on fire having now won tournaments on the PGA in addition to her many victories on the LPGA. This story takes place a year before Bobbie and the Glass Ceiling. If you are not familiar with the stories that make up the Cynthia Chronicles, you might want to go back to the beginning with An Incremental Journey. There are references to Cynthia and the Reluctant Girlfriend and Charli and the Girl Cave. If you don’t remember what happened in those stories, you might want to go back and read them again. This story also takes place just a few months before Cynthia and the Queen of the Knight.
