It was cold in the High Lady Jenwise’s office, perhaps colder than it should have been. I stood there a good distance away from her desk while she chatted with some dignitary that I didn’t recognize. To the left and right, two guards, each in a pressed blue uniform, each with a rifle slung over their shoulders. Their faces were expressionless but I knew that they were watching me, even as I stood there in my tattered prison uniform and barely passable footwraps.

"Go back to your room and clean up. I'll send Paul up to you later,"
Frankie said.

I staggered to the stairs. I felt Frankie's "deposit" trickling out of me. I clip, clopped up the stairs. My head was swimming. Terry was
screaming in my head.

"You just came from being fucked by a man, you must be gay now,"

I was thinking. "I have to act like this, or I will die. I must think l and a woman to stay alive."

Totally shocked and devastated by the news that my body was intersex, I moped around in my own grey miserable world for the rest of the day, wandering the streets, stopping for coffees, watching the ducks and geese on the lake in the park, generally hiding away, before I had got myself together enough to face people again.

This is a re-work of one of my older stories. This is around a third longer than the original. I still need to finish it.

The plain brown working dress and shawl she wore gave her little protection from the cold. Even the multitude of petticoats seemed to trap the cold air against her cotton stockings.
