Every rookie police officer knows the dangers of the job by the second week under their training officer. By the end of their training every rookie understands that there are something they can’t control, and not all crimes will be solved. Though all rookies share the same dream. Their first assignment following training. For 21 year old Officer Joe Cartwright of the Baltimore PD that dream is to be a member of the Mounted Patrol. What he got would lead to a life changing path.

The weeks leading up to the wedding reception was a combination of practicing the songs the bride had requested them to play and doing a few more gigs. Their new assistant booking agent had managed to get them several close gigs, before the wedding. The new outfits from Unique Wear Boutique had arrived and looked extremely good.

Chapter Seven: Eyes of the World

The broadcast spread faster than fire in dry grass, its signal shimmering with an unplaceable light. For those who watched, a faint scent of moonlit lotus seemed to drift from the screens, and old clocks ticked backward for a breathless instant. The air itself tingled, as if a barrier between worlds had briefly parted—magic leaking into living rooms across the nation.

Chapter 16: A Princess Requests Audience

The seas remained quiet—for now. But beneath that stillness, currents shifted uneasily, carrying the news to every shore and whispering of change to creatures both seen and unseen. In the deep, ancient leviathans stirred, sensing the tremor of power in the water. On distant islands, coastal villages watched the horizon with wary eyes, fishermen praying to old gods for safe passage.

This is the first of two stories (so far) in what will eventually become a multipart tale that details Minnie’s full weekend!

Nothing can prepare you for a blow like that – the day that my best friend told me that he had raped my sister.

My sister Bridget was the nicest human being in the world. Everybody loved her. She was only slightly intellectually disabled, but she didn’t look it. She was pretty, and she was always happy, even if there was not reason to be. She made our home, my parent’s home where I had my own space above the garage, a brighter place. My mother called her “the sunshine in my life”, and to her, she was.

Authors Note: Hi, it's me again. I'm very aware this book probably doesn't really fit in here. I found Big Closet through Maddy Bell's Gaby stories long ago. I recently created a chapbook from the first 8 chapters and would like to get it out in the world somehow. I've always thought self publishing and zines are cool. Chapter 48: The People’s Flame

Yuqi’s words quickly spread throughout the dragon world. Mountain peaks stood out against the morning sky, rivers caught the first golden light, and the wind carried her message through forests and busy city streets. Clouds twisted over volcanic islands, rain tapped on tiled roofs in hidden places, and lanterns glowed in underground lairs as dragons everywhere stopped to listen. The world grew quiet, as if both nature and civilization were waiting, while Yuqi's decree inspired hearts everywhere.
