My earliest memory is discovering I was in an egg, and having to fight my way out of it. My giant mother breast-fed me. My father was larger than me, but only by the degree I would expect, or even less than that. He had a normal-sized house inside the huge house where my mother lived.

CHAPTER 86
Life went on, though, as it almost always did. Ish went to school, where he switched his sports to rugby and swimming, Maz and I started the ‘matrix’ training, and the ‘protection’ stayed in the bedside cabinet’s drawer.

The letters became more frequent, eventually becoming bulkier as her mother started sending her own photos down, all of older members of her family, according to Maz.

Chapter 9 Someone like us

It was a mid afternoon appointment, two-thirty for a body waxing and the addition of breasts. Mary, the stylist at Turnabout Gurl Salon had everything set up for me. All I had to do is show-up and the deed would be done.

There was a knock on the door and Innie poked her head in. “Everything all right?”

“Yeah, looks like it. No surprises. Like the saying goes, you can’t fight something with nothing.”

I realized I wasn’t in a womb; I was in an egg. They said anything was possible when you ethertraveled, and that was one of those possibilities; many ethertravelers had reported being born from eggs.

I tried to bust my way out of the egg, but failed at first. I slept again later, and the next time I awoke I was feeling hungry. The yolk sac was empty. Now I really needed to hatch, to break my way out of the egg. I couldn’t tell whether I had arms or wings at this point, but they had elbows. After trying several other strategies, by poking both elbows to opposite sides at the same time, I was able to break a hole in the eggshell. Once it was broken, it was pretty easy to break the rest of it.
