Thursday an appeals court denied Trump's illegal law against one's desired or court designated gender on their passport. The court claimed Trump's personal dislike for transgender is not a legal basis for passing a law. Lot of legal speak in the court documents but the general idea is they said it was unlikely Trump administration would win an appeal in higher courts.
This was a complete smack down of Trump's Exec Order ruling all passports must have the birth designated gender on one's passport. The following is one of many news feeds carrying the story.

With the trans population being around 0.5%, politicians can afford to not want your vote. At 0.5 % you are useful as scapegoats though. The recent church shooting, and the trans man in Nashville in 2023 shooting up a school. is really not going to help with the hate. You will get them saying "See, trans people are really mentally ill" this just goes to prove it.

Dr. Shannon Joslin, a biologist and bat researcher who has passionately worked at Yosemite for years as an employee of the National Park Service, was recently terminated by the Trump administration. On their own free time, SJ and six others climbed El Capitan in Yosemite and took part in a tradition of hanging a flag at the top. Hanging flags off El Capitan has occurred in the past without consequences. In February, demonstrators hung an upside-down U.S. flag, often symbolizing a distress call, on El Capitan to draw attention to the mass firings by the Trump administration.

While reading the newspaper today I came upon an article detailing how the state of Oklahoma is now requiring teacher applicants from both New York and California who are looking to get a job teaching in Oklahoma to pass a loyalty test. The test is produced by PragerU, an Oklahoma based conservative non-profit which is becoming well known for posting ultra-conservative and religiously based teaching materials on-line.

The church is moving - at the speed of 0.8 km/h

OK, this has nothing to do with the theme of this site but I find it interesting.

The church in Kiruna in northern Sweden is moving. The 36 m high and 40 m wide church has been moving with a speed of 0.5 - 0.8 km/h.
This is part of moving the entire cown of some 18 000 inhabitants in order that the mine can continue.

The Sandie Peggie case involved an NHS nurse who faced a disciplinary process after an incident in a women's changing room involving a transgender doctor.

Ms. Peggie encountered a transgender doctor, Dr. Upton, in the women's changing room at NHS Fife. The exact details of the exchange and the language used are disputed, but it led to allegations of misconduct, failures in patient care, and misgendering. Ms. Peggie also faced allegations of using racist slurs in chat messages and describing Dr. Upton as a "weirdo,"

Yes i know some of you get higher temperatures but for this little island sitting above 50 degrees latitude, that's north of the major Canadian cities and all the USA except Alaska, doesn't often get temperatures into the 30's C.

There was a blog about Angela Morley here yesterday but it disappeared before I could comment. Andrea DiMaggio highlighted the life of an early (modern) TG woman, who started life as Wally Stott and transitioned in her late forties, about in the early 70s, IIRC.

She was well known in the British musical world before and became even more well-known in the USA following her transition. I just wanted to add how courageous she must have been to continue in her career in the spotlight, as it were, after changing her gender.

Several of us live in a nonprofit apartment building across the street from the local ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) building. They lease ICE the building from a local resident. About 1:45 AM 6/26/2025 I was wakened to banging on the door of my apartment on the 4th floor. I do not know where in the building the other almost half dozen of us live.

It has always been inherent in my civilian career to stay on top of the happenings both domestically and internationally, as everything impacts our supply chains - a fact only those of us who deal with logistics gave thought to prior to the Covid pandemic, but which quickly became evident to others a few years back.

When I awoke this morning, having stayed in bed later than I usually do as it is a dreary day, I checked the news and weather as is my usual habit - well, after my usual morning ablutions and grabbing my first cup of coffee anyway. The first thing I noticed was that two Democratic lawmakers, and their spouses, were shot in an obvious politically motivated execution in Minneapolis, Minnesota overnight.

Rep. Melissa Hortman and her husband were both killed, and Senator John Hoffman and his wife were both shot multiple times but as of this writing are still alive.

I hope that I'm not the only one here with this kind of visceral nausea about this news, although I very well might be. Imagine tens of millions of dollars of data taken, and untold numbers of years of work with that data.
