There Are No Rules

Taxonomy upgrade extras:

Author:

AOL this morning has a story about Jack Norworth, the man who penned “Take Me Out to the Ballgame”. The refrain to that song is almost as familiar as the Big Closet melody, There Are No Rules, which is chirped every time someone suggests a methodology for writing.

Rules are made to be broken, but it’s easier to successfully engage the reader if you put the ball close to the strike zone.

Sitting in the dark
Only my thoughts for company
My mind drifts back
To times I won't forget

The crease of your lips
A split second before you laugh
The widening of your eyes

Now it's nearly time to go
And no matter now near or far
I want you to know
How proud I am to call you my friend

A dear friend of mine took a job on the east coast recently and I wrote this for her. She's a sweetheart and while we'll still chat on facebook, it won't be the same as in person.

Trip responds... "I couldn't stop."

This is a call to those who like to proof read stories. The first book is written of the series The Omega Unicorn Chronicles. I couldn't use the title The Last Unicorn, because there is already a book with that title. Book One is 30 chapters long. Book Two has 31 chapters and still counting. The Third Book is going to wait until Book Two is done. The Rescue Mission will be re-written to reflect books one and two better. I suggest reading the story first before taking it apart. There are rabbit trails and mysteries along the way.

After a month of poor health, I'm getting back to my writing or at least trying to. Is there a BC author or commenter from Australia who can help me? I'm trying to determine the time in Alice Springs compared to other parts of world, and the websites I'm finding are telling me time in that part of Australia is currently 12:21 a.m. when it is 10:51 a.m. where I'm writing. Note the 21 and 51. Is CST Time Australia, a half hour different from other places?* I always thought time zone changes were hourly. IF its say 9:51 in Bombay, its something 51 in all other parts of the world.

Yes, they are, and yes you can. In Chapter Nine (Comments) I made it an open universe to anyone that wants to write in it. There's no need to ask permission. Though if you want questions answered or more inside information about some of the characters, that didn't get revealed too much, for your own story, then PM me.

If you do write one, just credit me for the characters and universe. That's all I ask.

There are two basic types of 'Farie Tales'. There's the Disney sweetness and light and everyone lives happily ever after kind, and then there's the Brother's Grimm not always a happy ending type.

Have you ever considered that the only thing that separate the two are the two words "what if"? For example, what if the Singing Sword had missed the mark and the dragon queen had destroyed the young Prince? Princess Aurora would still be sleeping.

Here's another farie tale that has a "what if" ending. I'll begin it as all good farie tales begin, but be warned, this is a sad tale.

I would really like to talk to you, but I do not think that grouply is the correct medium.

Much peace

Ever the Optimist

I recently came across a “change” machine. Now really wanting to change, I eagerly put in my dollar. Nothing happened. For the better part of an hour I fed dollars to this damn machine. Still nothing happened. It was a complete rip off.

I also think I strained my back hauling fifty-two pounds of quarters back to my car.

What a Friday.

Someone messed with the radio in my car and rather than my usual Tweeny Pop station, I found myself listening to Public Radio. They were reviewing a book by Jessica Stern called "Denial: A Memoir of Terror. This woman has been to Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran, and who knows where else interviewing known terrorists. She says she interviewed 40 of them and in every single case, the boys in the Islamic schools were subjected to sexual assault as a means to control them and to aid in radicalizing them. As she talked to these individuals, every one of them wanted to disgrace the west or their victims.

Daniel pulled an intercostal muscle (between the ribs) or something and he's kind of in pain which sapped his energy for doing art. Instead, we put up another page from his sketchbook, some of the more minor characters from Sam Valentine.

We should have a page up on Monday.

Hugs,
Joyce

Fall off in comments.

Well I suppose the fall off in comments to Sissy farm shows that most have read it before on Fictionmania or perhaps it's a bit too strong for most of the readers on this site. Or perhaps it's just not up to standard.
I'll just take the advice offered and post one about every 3 days until I reach the revised/re-written chapters.
Well the other news is that I've reached chapter 8 of The Angry mermaid. Once I've finished it, I'll create a TG Version for BCTS.

Back Soon.
Beverly.

Sexual Conversion Therapy

So, anyway, one day I was looking through a pile of free books and I happened upon "Sexual Conversion Therapy", so out of curiosity, I picked it up. I was once a very devout Christian and of course subjected myself to years of praying, anointments, and condemnations, thinking that my problems were of the devil. Finally, coming to my senses, I gave up on that and was forced to accept myself.

I had an odd dream the other night. I was in a moterized chair, heading for a hospital. On my way, i bumped into someone I knew, but I didnt recognize them at first because they had aged. Then I went in, and joined a very long line up for help with my gender stuff. The line actaully went from one building to another, it was that long. I joined the line, and then I woke up. weird, huh?

The Artifacts of K'Panu, Part 2, posted

... finally. It's a good deal larger than I'd imagined at the start, and it still feels hurried, but I wanted to get it out of the way so I could move on with the story :)

Please bear with me. I'm learning as I go, and the biggest lesson this time was the effort it takes to actually do this-here writing stuff :) I need to bite off smaller chunks, and focus on specific plot events, to keep each new chapter about half the size of this one.

A Choice For Tomorrow

Since I haven't managed to wow you all with another episode about Jamie, The Cliffside Heroine, which is in the offing, I have posted a new Sci-Fi story--just a short on Fictioneer.

You can find it here and I would be really, really happy if you'd leave a comment and let me know what you think.

FYI, Cliffside Heroine 6 is in the making and will be on the way soon--I promise.

Any bored editors out there?

I'm tossing in the towel, I'm waving the white flag, in short, I surrender.

I've posted a couple of stories here so far and since they've been rather short, I've managed to do the editing myself. However, the latest story I have been working on has decided that it doesn't want to be another short story, it wants to be a big girl. The end result has been for it to reach 60K+ words to date and there is no sign of it stopping.
