Chapter Three: Renewing An Old Relationship
Thursday, November 11, 2004

We repeated our morning ritual of lustful sex and showering together. I put on a bra, panties, and a red poppy festival dress, with loafers. Fixed breakfast, read the paper, and lounged.

Diana was excited to drive her new Escape to a 10 AM hair appointment. Late morning, Diana sent a text: “Please prepare dinner for 4. Details later.”

I responded: “Message received.”

Chapter Thee – History Repeats Itself

Elizabeth’s Quarters:
Elizabeth wakes up and feels herself being held. She could feel something soft being pressed against her back. It took her mind a few seconds to realize who was in bed with her. Her mouth had a weird taste, a taste she had never tasted before.

She was wet between her legs and hoped she wasn’t going back to how she was when she came to the vineyard. She manages to turn around in the arms to face who is holding her. A smile forms on her face as she realizes it is Carol.

Several days later I asked them about the other people they had mentioned lived across the stream. My friends didn’t seem to be on a friendly basis with them. When we got there, we found that whoever had lived there was gone, with only the dead remains of their flowers left, which meant in all likelihood they were dead. They hadn’t eaten the flower remains, and my friends had told me how unlikely a merger was, much less three of them.

"You wanted to dress like a whore, so here you go. When you're done, I'm going to leave you on a street corner, and you're not coming home until you make $4,000 giving men head. Did you hear me?!"

Orla inserted her scuffed bronze-colored key into the lock, turned it, and opened the door. With its peeling light blue paint, it fortunately did nothing to betray the apartment's relative opulence.
It hadn't been like this when her and her grandmother, Kahri, first moved in. No, at that time, the place had been the dictionary definition of what the locals might call a "shithole," a term as unfamiliar to them as it was second nature to their new neighbors.

The next afternoon, Dawn met and bonded with Diana. In the second episode, "Dawn Visits Kansas," Dawn spends two weeks in Kansas. Diana asks Dawn to be a part of her life in the future.

Charles Matthews stared at the lab results on his computer screen, his heart hammering against his ribs. The numbers seemed to pulse accusingly: 1415 ng/dL. Just 85 points below the transformation threshold.

"Fuck," he whispered, running a hand through his dark hair.

What was it with plump women and oversized glasses? She looked even more like a baby owl than ever, albeit a very large one.

“Do I know you?” she asked.

“Carrie Leach.”

“Oh fuck!”

“Relax. I’m only here to talk.”

“Yeah, that’s all you did last time and see where that got us.”

“I guess.”

“How come you don’t look like, you know, her?”

A Step Too Far?

Edward Arley was a very organised young man. His parents were staid pillars of the community who for many years had run a successful estate agency business in Sutton Deering, an old market town about 50 miles north of London.

Practice was over. Gregory picked up a towel to wipe some sweat from his face.

Thomas was about to towel off when a text arrived. “Son, I’ve got an emergency. Can you get a ride home?”

“No problem. Be careful out there.”

“I always am.”

When Thomas arrived at the scene, Joe approached with a grin on his face. “I can’t wait to hear why you are showing up to a crime scene looking like your wife.”

“I’ll tell you later. What’s the fuss?”

Bulbs flashed everywhere like tasteless arc welders fucking epileptic fireflies. “Countess Devaris!” A tabloid wraith blocked her path. “Does Lady Elaine’s absence signal fractures in Phoenix Rising’s founding triad?”

I’m a horse-like creature with the ability to stand on my hind legs and use my front legs as hands. But my parents are centaurs!

XIX. Blackreach and Blacker Hearts

The moth’s carcass smouldered, wings fused to a cigarette butt like a failed origami angel. Evelyn traced the curve of Georgia’s hip, her touch tender as a grease fire. For three breaths, the room held still—the kind of quiet that lives between a trigger pull and the bullet’s verdict.

Author's Note: There is sex in this story. Some of it is explicitly described. I've seen folks post in the comments of other stories they were surprised or unhappy with this. Be forewarned.

This is an alternate take on Dawning... Or How I Survived a Plane Crash, Sort Of which is the same up to the kiss. If you have just read that story, you can skip down three or four pages (to “kiss a boy”) and pick up how this version goes.

The darkness never changes, but sometimes it smells different. After 400 years, whether my eyes are open or closed matters because it’s how I communicate. One if by land, two if I see….

Here's a Valentine story that I've been working on for a while. It’s still February, so I think it’s still seasonal. I’ve been out of practice for a while, so this ended up coming out way too long. The logjam cleared and I can write again, but I’m not that good at editing out unnecessary details into a concise form.

This might be the fourth most overdone trope in the realm of TG stories, so if you're tired of stories like that don't bother reading this one. There is no violence or force involved here, just adult language and sexual situations.
