A brief explanation;

This story is a mixed vision, fantasy and reality, the core of which was a dream I’ve experienced on and off over the years.

Within this work of fiction are many truths merged with make believe including idealized representations of people I know and respect.

This little piece was 'inspired' by the movie of the same name. Actually I'm not really sure inspired is the word I'm looking for as I couldn't finish watching it. Written several years ago I still think it's one of my best little short stories along with Heat Wave

Janie Lewis and I were the best of friends ever since the first day of Preschool and we did everything together. So many times we would hear people say "Those two are almost like conjoined twins" It seemed like it too. Our mothers would have to promise that we would get to go to each others houses the next day to ever get us to go home. I would play with her toys when I was at her house and she played with mine when she was at mine. I always wondered why my toys weren't the same things Janie had, but I was afraid to ask.

The storm to the South West was rapidly gathering but there looked to be time to reset the power pull on the pole and then I could go home. The sky had gone all amber, the humidity was oppressive. The distant thunder sounded like the neighbor dragging his garbage can down the street. The approaching tempest looked like it could hatch a Tornado. I began to wonder if I should bother getting the power back up again.

As it's Drew/Gaby's birthday on February 25th I thought I'd give you a little something to read.Originally released to attendees of the 2010 Gabycon in Dorset this is a short extract from the new Gaby book I'm currently working on Changes. She passed the flyer across the table to him.

It certainly looked like somewhere to visit”­; ”¬four huge halls full of gaming,”­ ”¬costuming and a fair bit more besides.

As I arrived at the railway station I realized that I was 45 minutes early and it worried me in case I saw someone that I knew. It was the first time that I’d ever been outside my home dressed like this and I almost decided to turn around and go back. But the taxi driver who was a young Asian man was getting impatient with me as I tried to unload my luggage so in the end I gave him a 5 pound note and he sped off before I could ask him to take me home again.
