The Dutch case has reached a verdict but sentencing has been suspended by European intercourt convention until the German case is completed. Lola is assisting Erica by providing emotional support while Olivia and Angela are also close at hand during the hearings in Berlin.

“Watch you doing up there, Amy?” Steve looks up at Amy way up at the top of her mainmast in a bosun's chair.

Amy looks down towards Steve as he stood near her sailboat. She had just finished installing a new light bulb and a radio antenna on her mainmast.

“Replacing a light bulb and installing a new radio antenna.” Amy was glad she got started early on the repairs.

“You’re a better person then I am.” Steve had a fear of heights.

“I love my boat.” Amy starts lowering herself back down to the deck.

My eyes widened in surprise. There was someone standing at the door of the rumpus room. Someone I'd never seen before. A boy around my age, maybe a year older. Tall; taller than me, and much wider across the shoulders. He was wearing a bright red varsity jacket and holding something in his right hand, although neither fact registered with me at the time. He was staring at me slack-jawed and speechless, astonishment stamped all over his face in capital letters...

Chapter 7

I was second-guessing myself coming up to my mother's house. Was I an eighteen-year-old man or an eleven-year-old girl? Was I merely a caretaker for this body? Was Cindy ever going to return or was this my second chance at life? I had all my memories of Eric and none of Cindy, but this body was clearly a young girl's body.

Jake was used to virtual reality. It was his thing after all. But here he was in their apartment. The only thing different was that he was in another body. When he held his hand up he could see that it was not his hand at all, it was a slender feminine hand, with manicured nails.

That did leave me in the casino area and made me wonder if there was some game of chance where my abilities gave me a boost. Obviously, poker would be easier if I could tell the true emotional state of the other players, but I was too young to be allowed to play. Besides, I would prefer to win against the casino rather than other players. I could touch the slot machines with my energy, but they were too complex for me to work out any advantages.

They had almost reached the radio buoy when Nate called out that there was something in the water, off the starboard bow, maybe 200 metres distant. Skipper Greg Hanson was behind his own exacting schedule and was disinclined to investigate, until Nate called out: “I think it’s a body.”

“No problem, Sam. Any chance of you welding a broken hinge on one of the waggon sides sometime?”

Chapter 3

I ended up giving an impromptu concert. I had to break frequently, partially to eat my lunch, but mainly because my new body had not developed any stamina for violin playing. The music teacher started talking about the orchestra and what she would like me to do. I tuned most of it out while seeming to agree and nod my head. I needed to get away from here and having a violin meant I could earn some money busking.

The winter of 2009 took my sweet wife Margot. It was an infection, we knew that much. We put her body outside in the snow to preserve her. I had not wanted to let go, but Carson made me see the sense in it. When winter broke, we were able to take her body in to town and confirm the cause of death. It was such a minor thing, just a small wound from a can of spam, but when you are isolated, even with modern communications, there is nothing you can do.

After my mom and I were able to calm down we sat down in the kitchen and talked about what just happened. My family discusses these kinds of things and does not let them fester and create more pain or problems.

“Mom, I am sorry for my reaction. I didn’t want to hurt your feelings.” I assured her.

“Honey, that is okay. I think I overreacted too. I just wanted to protect my baby girl.” she told me, looking a bit upset still while holding my hand for a minute.
