“Patience is the ultimate virtue”. They are so very fond of saying that at Ms. Lacey’s School of Reform for Wayward Boys. Ms. Lacey herself says that all women must learn patience first. “A woman’s life is full of frustrations, and a woman’s life is what is in store for all of you. And frustration can only be overcome by patience”. I can still hear the words, being drummed into me with everything else. I have never forgotten those words, or how to fold napkins, braid my hair or walk in high heels.

Dear Readers, You will start to see some redundancy in the storyline because, well, I've merged the story, and after a few more chapters, we will finally introduce some new stuff again. I do appreciate your loyalty and patience.

School was a haven of normalcy after the busy week. At lunch, she told the other four about the payout of the others with Small Heath. That evening, she emailed Gina with that information as well as the pictures of her new home. The family was settling into a new way of life. Ashley and Wendy were finding the better ways of getting to work, and Sebastian seemed to know a different way with every new day, something that he told her was good security.

As the days slipped by, the school settled into a tranquil rhythm, the initial thrill of the new dragons gradually fading into the backdrop of everyday life. Yuqi observed with an attentive eye that the once-grand entrances of the other dragons no longer drew gasps of awe; their powers, once flaunted like banners, were now wielded with a quieter grace. Even Sebastian, still reeling from his public embarrassment in the bustling cafeteria, had chosen a path of solitude, keeping his distance with an air of reluctance.

Dear Readers, This is an apology and an explanation. I started Wildcat Fall earlier this year and realized it wasn't the story I wanted to tell. Here is a newly written chapter that integrates with the core of the original Wildcat Fall. This is the continuing saga. I would appreciate any feedback. At seventy-nine, Edward Wright wants nothing more than quiet days by the sea—peace from his restless mind and from the values he never truly chose but was forced to live by. When he buys a Cape Cod beach house, he expects solitude. Instead, he discovers something left behind sixty-two years ago…something that will change the course of his final years in ways he never imagined.

Author’s note: I missed the deadline for the summer romance contest, but the idea would not let me go. I love the challenge of writing to a random theme, and this story became the result. While I draw on real places and the names of historical figures, this novel is entirely a work of fiction. I hope you enjoy it as much as I loved writing it.

I had intended to leave this story after Part 6, but Part 7 was largely written, so rather than cutting off the story part way through I have uploaded it. I know the number of readers have been dropping steadily. That is understandable, but I do hope that many of you who have persevered have enjoyed the stories.

Sophie gave him ten seconds at best, interpreting her step-brother’s response in a more figurative manner. Why give him a full minute, when it was much more fun to surprise him? Either Sam was already wearing the dress, or still in the process of putting it on. If it was the former, amazing; otherwise, Sophie could double down about how he needed help.

Mary, Phyllis, Dave and I were having burgers in the secluded both in Big Al’s burger joint. We always went there after Dave had dragged us to the latest Anne Aragon movie. Dave had it bad. The rest of us humored him. Oh, we liked Anne Aragon but we weren’t fanatic fans like him.

We were a strange group. High school boys and girls are not supposed to be friends without romantic entanglements. We were. We had not been friends since kindergarten, only since third grade. To be honest my friendship with them had at times been vital to me and I’m not exaggerating. They had been a firm rock and a port in storm, to mix metaphors, when my life had been too crazy, which it had been all too often the last six years.
