With a groan I sat up in my bed and immediately regretted it, the swimming of my head telling me to lay back down immediately -- an order I was all too willing to comply with.

"Nuh uh, now that you're awake you're getting up," Dia said, dialling up the lights in my room to "sun going supernova" and pulling a scream from my lips as I covered my eyes with my arm. "It's your own dumb fault, you know. You should have known better."

I shook my head. "Something's not right. I've seen the living quarters. There were younger children here. There's no indication they were infected and turned, and if they were abandoned when their parents turned, we'd have found signs of it. Where have they gone?"

The voice came from the shadow of a storage shed. It belonged to a tall man, with short-cropped blond hair, in military fatugues bearing the Red Skull insignia. Four others appeared behind him, fanning out to cover us with automatic weapons. "Your more immediate concern, Miss Mars, should be, 'How do I remain very still to keep my associates from being killed.'"

Court sighed and glanced at me. "They've got the doctor, too."

Chapter 47 Finding Dad .

As I looked across the restaurant towards the entrance I could see 3 people waiting to be seated and as the waiter escorted them to their table a man was standing at the desk and as he turned I immediately recognized him. It was dad.

I hadn’t seen him for more than 6 years on my twenty first birthday but he had hardly changed. Unlike me I suppose so I was unsure what to do. What a place to meet and how much did he know about my life or my circumstances.

Just because mother's day is in May does not make it a May day story still... enjoy

Sarah was down changing Dave when there was a knock at the door. I hesitated a moment, then got up and answered it. It was Ashley and her mom. "Hi. Come on in."

"Hello Steve, where are Dave and Sarah?" Judy asked.

"Sarah's changing him, they should be back soon."

When I said that, Ashley turned to walk down the hallway. "Ashley come back here," Judy said.

She turned around and walked back pouting just a bit. I chuckled a little at the look on her face and she stuck her tongue out at me. I responded in kind and then she giggled a little.
