I’m not sure if it was the thing with Troy or just some defensive woman instinct running through me but even as I rocked Njinda my body was humming with this. He’s not going to touch her; he’s not going to hurt her. Njinda’s family…no one’s going to hurt my family.

It’s not too long before the guys showed up there was a mix of gravel and tires skidding to a halt on pavement. Then Holly’s letting Tim and Davey inside. Tim’s holding Holly and Davey takes Njinda out of my arms and she bursts out bawling and he hugs her and picks her up right off her feet and sets her on the edge of one of the booth tables and he holds her a bit more and he’s whispering to her in the quiet Davey way and she’s nodding then wrapping her arms around his neck and he leans in and kisses her then they touch foreheads looking into her eyes.

The reports take me awhile. It’s why I guess that armies really do run on paper. I didn’t really want to do this stuff but I need to. Mom keeps refilling my coffee and Dad’s still kind of surly; I can really start to see why he hates this, why he never wanted to be part of the life. He actually shot me a sort of sympathetic sort of look and then left after looking at everyone.

Athena/Andrea is sitting with Dorian and are talking is a very foreign language save for the names of people and places that don’t fit the language I mean what ever they’re speaking stuff like “New York” doesn’t seem to translate to. I think he’s getting caught up on current events.

James was back at the hospital the next day, it had been decided that they should try leg braces to make him more mobile, the company hired for the task of making the braces had been interviewed by both Dr Graves and Dr Wells. due to the fact that he still had to wear light bandaging the leg braces would have to be of a special design.

They had two weeks to get prepared for the visit to Buckingham Palace and the meeting with the Queen, James was still being tested at regular intervals and at the moment everything seemed to fine. Elizabeth had notified the school that James would not be attending school for three days of the week in question this would give them one day either side of the visit for travelling.

I’m standing there stunned at the sudden rush of the girls laughing and squeeing and running all over the place. Hillary’s laughing a bit too. But she’s pointing at various girls and shouting out orders.

“Bring all your clothes even the good stuff and the stuff that you’re not using that might fit Dylan!”

“Hill.”

“You three get all the different make-up stuff we have and bathroom stuff!”

“Hill.”

“You two junk food!”

“Hiillll.”

“You two Movies!”

“Yo, Earth to Hill.”

“Deidre, mud masks and cucumbers!”

“Hillary!”

But no voice could be heard on the other end, just heavy breathing. She listened for a moment, in case they had a mouth full of food or something, then hung the phone up. “Weird.” She stated and went back to her book. A few moments later, the phone rang again. She looked at it as she considered if she really wanted to pick it up. There was a good chance that her mother could be calling, she picked it up once more. “Hello? Patterson's residence.”

It was quiet for a moment or two, then a voice spoke. It seemed to be a teen's voice, possibly older, one she didn't know. “I know.” Was all it said.

The Ambassador had arranged suitable clothing for James so as not to cause the child any undue harm, late in the afternoon a team of dressers, and beauty consultants descended on them to get them ready. The adults were taken away to get ready as was Annabel, leaving James alone with a a rather suave looking gentleman who took James to his room.

The following day the meeting re-convened except this time there was only Rodger, John Stewart and Dr Wells present,

Rodger moved in the following week, bringing only what he required, anything extra he needed he could purchase when and if he needed it.
Seeing that money was not a problem he had a broadband connection installed, upgraded all the computers in the house for the best that money could buy and bought state of the art laptops and mobile phones for both Elizabeth and James.

The PI company that was hired was called Moriarty Investigations, all their operatives had worked for various government Intelligence agencies over the years and they had equipment equal to and some times even better than government agents.

The Head of company was told what was required and a contract was drawn up and signed, the Moriarty company also provided top level undercover security so would also ensure the safety of James and his mother 24/7 until the case was dealt with.

The new kid came into the class, and almost nobody noticed. When the new kid had first shown up, there had been the usual introductions, but almost immediately after, the new kid seemed to fade into the background, forgotten.

Except one girl, who watched the new kid move, and wondered.

Her name was Bethany Ann Cooper, and she was regarded as a bit odd, because she once said that she remembered a time when a dead kid had come to the school, and even claimed to have given this dead kid a kiss.

He walked back outside after he had handed her off to his son. Adam only paused to grab the pint of Johnny Walker red label out of his golf bag and up capped it and took a swig and lit up another cigarette and paced in the driveway still keyed up and on edge from the heated exchange that the had just had.

He took a sip of the scotch and let it burn slide down his throat as he did he followed it up with a drag of his smoke and another and another until when he exhaled it was vaguely dragon like.
