The Technical Sergeant had a point. Either Nadya was totally innocent of being involved in nefarious activity, or she and her compatriots were real professionals.

“Well, if I can give her sufficient reason to need to contact her friends, she might just be tempted to break the rules. And we don’t want that; we need her to bring your guys to them.”

“OK, we can block her mobile.”

It was sheer bedlam in the casino, a group had booked the whole casino and hotel for seven days straight, we are talking major money here. No info on the group was shared down at our level yet, but it was rumored they were major high rollers.

The problem was quite a few employees were on vacation, something the casino allowed, in fact encouraged, right after the Christmas holiday. So, the powers to be were down interviewing everybody to see who could work extra shifts to fill in the gaps.

The door closed and Janey was finally gone. She had been called into her office, even though it was a Saturday morning. She could only promise that she would be back before lunch. That left me alone with Tanya for the morning. The whole morning had seemed totally unreal.

As I pulled the convertible into a parking space near Doctor Hartwell’s clinic, I began to wonder if I should have asked Lauren along after all. Somehow the overpass seemed taller, the shadows longer, and the alleyways between the buildings darker.

Synopsis: Peter always wanted to know what it felt like to be a woman. The answer comes unexpectedly: in sleep, in fragments, and in the borrowed lives of Elizabeth and Akari.
