Synopsis

Alex had a terminal Cancer diagnosis and thought she would die before she got to be the girl she always was inside. That all changes when she's in the wrong place at the right time and gets transported to another world and into the body of a girl. So what if she's not human, she's alive and a girl. Now if only she had her sister with her to navigate this new world and her new responsibilities. Wait, she's here too? The passage of their souls between worlds may have doomed the Earth to apocalypse, but Alex and Michelle won't be there to see it and they have enough problems on their hands.

Chapter 5: “The Network's Reach”

Defiance in Silence

Indira’s engines hummed, a steady, almost living presence beneath me in the silence of my quarters. My hands, still trembling from the intensity of the data analysis, rested on the cold metal of my toolbox. Its accustomed weight grounded me—an anchor in the rising current of unease that surged through my chest. The low drone of the cooling fan in the corner felt suddenly too loud, beating like a second, more frantic heart against the silence, a frantic drumbeat of impending decision.

Chapter Two – Cinderella

High School senior Alexandra Plessy is no longer the ugly duckling at school and she makes an uneasy truce with The Karens. She decides to continue to keep her gender identity a secret which wouldn't be a problem except that she is slowly falling for Mitch Bellingham who has rescued her twice when she has been in trouble with The Karens. She agonizes over whether to tell him the truth or withhold that part of her life from him, even as their relationship becomes steamy. Then there is Uncle Miles to deal with.

“Come on, up and at ‘em!” Paul yelled as he banged on his son’s door, eliciting a tired groan from the twenty-year-old. “Just ‘cause football’s one step closer ta comin’ home, it doesn’t mean ya can lay around all day!”

“Yes, yes, okay,” the young man grunted through the door as he threw back the covers and sat upright, brushing his messy hair out of his face and shielding his eyes from the bright summer Sun.

“Same goes for you, Luke!” Paul yelled as he banged on his other son’s door.

Chapter One – Tribes

Transgender teen Alexandra Plessy moves to Masons Peak to complete her senior year and escape the growing social climate of discrimination and harassment in her previous school. She keeps her identity secret and has to navigate the challenges of being 'the new kid'. She piques the interest of 'The Karens', three middleclass, self-centered, overly entitled bullies who are determined to put her in her place.

This is the final chapter of Samantha’s story (I do have other content set in the Sissy Camp universe). It’s also my first completed, public story, so I want to thank everyone who has read so far. Chapter 1: “Dockside Ghosts”

Arrival at the Dock

The shuttle's recycled air tasted of protein slurry and something metallic—burnt capacitors, perhaps. A soft, low hum from the engines shook the shuttle. With every breath, Lena’s perfume—a bittersweet lavender ghost—clung to the air, triggering a phantom ache in my chest. I reached beneath my shirt, fingers brushing the outline of the Star of David pendant. My mother’s gift. A small, silent comfort in the rising tide of unease.

Back At The Vineyard:
“How are our finances looking, Henry?” Elizabeth looks across Henry’s desk as he taps away on his computer.

“The vineyard itself is doing fine. However, the trauma center is incurring a significant amount of expenses. You’ll need to make some changes to bring down the cost.” Henry looks towards Elizabeth, who is the trauma center director.

“What type of cost are you talking about, Henry?” Elizabeth needs to know exactly where they need to cut costs.

“Ex- excuse me?” The young woman asks, her facemask muffling her soft Yorkshire accent. “Can — can we get a selfie with you, please?” I allow myself a small chuckle as I turn to face the asker of the question — a girl barely older than sixteen, standing with three others of her age. All of them are wearing t-shirts with cartoon caricatures on the front and, even though I can’t see them, angel wing prints on the back, just like all t-shirts promoting the group I tried — and failed — to join.

A small group travel to meet the Council of Fanir, who are anxious to discover just what the 'Federation' is. During the discussions they are forced to relate some part of their previous adventures which impresses their hosts. On returning to the port, however, Tor has some alarming news.

Security Training Center Number 2:
Jake and Jessica look at the young fifteen-year-old teenage girl standing before them. She was wearing the black skintight outfit they had given her to wear. The suit had sensors built into it to monitor her vitals.

“Alright, Brandi. First, you’re going to stretch, so we can get a baseline on what your body is doing.” Jessica was standing near the monitors and already getting basic readings from the suit.
