Here's a spin-off of my story "Brave New World". It introduces a character who was later important to the final arc of that story, as well as a few that aren't.

Chapter One: The First Time

I was standing in line at the employment office of Maxwell Industries Ltd., dressed to impress, hoping for a marketing position with that prestigious company.
I felt that I had a good chance since I had just finished my masters at Harvard and had had previous experience after graduation from Smith with a degree in marketing.
A gentleman walked by, glanced at the line, glanced at me a second time, walked over to me and introduced himself as one of the division managers.

Today at CosmiCon Justin will have the chance to fulfill his fantasy of cosplaying Duchess Immensia of 'Tachyon Dynasty' fame with his wife Sarah accompanying him as her loyal sidekick Nanoboy. How will the daring duo fare against the convention crowds?

“Ugh,” I moan as my alarm clock wakes me at 7am for what feels like the millionth consecutive day.

“Morning babe,” Sarah tiredly moans, wrapping her arms around my naked body and giving me a slow, soft kiss on my neck.

“Hey,” I reply, blinking the tiredness out of my eyes. “Looking forward to today?”

“Been looking forward to it since I left in June,” Sarah giggles. “Just wish you were coming with me…”

“I know,” I sigh. “Kinda wish I was coming too…”

“No you don’t,” Sarah says, giving me a playful push. “You know EVERYONE would kill to have your job!”

“Godddd…” I moan as I prop myself up on my elbows on a towel on the floor of the converted London taxi. “Why does it have to take this long?”

“It’ll take as long as it takes,” Hannah replies from the driver’s seat of the taxi.

Rock finally called in one of her most powerful friends. And when Bob faces this new opponent, he may wish to have faced the Bloodhound, instead of her.

Given Bob has no means of escape. How will he be able to defeat an opponent that is his superior in every way? With his wits, guile, and a whole lot praying.

And Boris' problems finally catch up to him. With him, Ed, and Bob, having to make some hard choices.

WISHING WELL

Lionel makes a wish to become one of the senior managers at work. Unfortunately he didn't specify what sex he wanted to be.

The well was ancient; easily as old as many of the oldest houses in Bycastle, the original village from which Nockton and its twin-town Barton spread.

Getting back into doing my own stories with one that people asked me NOT to do. The start of what I expect will be a new continuity early in the history of a civilization that recently developed a need to molt skins so they can maintain their empathic abilities.

Chapter 31 – Changes

Steve felt foolish and humiliated. He followed two steps behind his wife trying to hide in her shadow, his movements forced and awkward. Phyllis turned and pulled him up even with her. She scanned the store before turning to her husband.

"Is she here?"

Steve quickly looked around and then took a deep breath to combat the pounding of his heart. In a voice that was boyishly high, he said, "Yes, that's her over by the baby strollers."

Rock has a minor problem. He wants to convince a certain John Crichton to join merry team.

Unfortunately, John is a genre savvy, badass, genius, whom has not brought one, but two galactic empires to their knees, at once.

Also, John's wife, Aeryn, is as badass as the Bloodhound.

As such, Rock realizes. the usual manipulative tricks, nor force, are going to work for the situation. John will see through the trick. And force against him and Aeryn would be an unwise idea.

Along with this, John has seen enough action to last ten life times. And he and is wife new parents, with their baby son, with them.

And neither John, nor Aeryn, want John to leave his family. All the want to do is live a nice peacefully life.

Fortunately, Rock has a plan. A simple that will only require a little leg work to get John to agree to come on board.

For Rock is use to dealing with lunatics and geniuses.
