Chapter 24

Morning came for once in what felt like in a long time. Oh God you know, other than when I was on my own curled up in depression. I’ve never done this before. I’ve never slept in before. James was always in training or going someplace and after that. I wasn’t really allowed to when I was in the group home and getting off from the strip-club where I waitressed at 4 in the morning and sleeping in didn’t count.

I had to go downstairs to the bathroom and there were 2 girls chatting as I went inside. I was a little hesitant at first but since I was a bit uncomfortable I decided I had no choice. We gathered together our purchases and loaded Steph’s panniers. The fitting had been efficient and very effective, a dress had indeed been there in my size (16, hooray! Average UK woman size!) as well as a couple of pairs of shoes.

That evening Krista began researching adaptations to saddles for amputees. Most of what she discovered were to accommodate prosthetic limbs which Freddy would eventually need, but she thought a saddle that accommodated an amputee without prosthetics would be better for those in recovery.
