That day Leah took me to buy a few more clothes, guy clothes, but convinced me to keep some of the women’s clothes, the ones she said looked more genderless. In the end I didn’t mind that much about it, she was making me feel as if I was way too cool for not being too apprehensive about letting her put makeup on me or wearing her heels, that I ended up feeling more confident and actually being cool about it.

Jane's first week as a girl passed in something of a Blur. Her mother delighted in having a daughter. She filled Jane's days with lessons in cooking, sewing and the other skills of hearth and home. By week's end they had sewed an entire set of everyday clothes including a shift, dress and kirtle. They were plain for the moment but her mum was already talking of embroidery, just as soon as she had a second set sewn.

Two days had passed since the town had received the warning of the impending invasion of undead and other dark things.

Jarg and Vansel, along with Kotori, had worked hard all day long making weapons for the defenders to use during the invasion. Now that the day's work was done, the three had settled down in the room with all the dining tables inside the Journeyman's Inn.

Kotori was drinking an odd brew that she had asked Madame Benrime to make for her, the two men had their usual ales.

Since Christianity had taken hold of the Clan Ravn the burial practices changed. The circular burial mound of Olvris was huge, 180 feet in diameter and 19 feet high, had been fine for the honoring the Norse gods, but was considered a bit too ostentatious for Christianity. Svenn decided the mound could become a dynastic memorial for those who led Bazram.

Family members had been buried around the burial mound and that would continue, however, the successors of Olvris would be buried atop the mound. As the first successor, Bjorn would be buried on the top with a simple gravestone. When Svenn’s time came, he would be buried beside his grandfather, with future successors following suit as the grave sites wound around and down the hill. There would be more than enough room to bury centuries of successors. Svenn would also erected a huge memorial stone listing the names and lineage of those buried in and on top of the burial mound along with the dates of the birth, rule, and death. Additions would be made as needed.

Chapter 10 – Rabbit joins the band

Arabella woke-up early and took Trigger outside to potty her. She had peeked into the master bedroom and found Gina and Arnold sound asleep in each other arms. Neither one was wearing any night clothes. Cadmus had looked at her and then laid back down.

“Come on Trigger, let’s go potty.” She puts Trigger’s leash on her and walks her around outside.
