Chapter Fourteen

Tiffany called Gina as she drove from their new digs out to the band house. “How long’s it been since we’ve hung out?”

I converted the rest of my wallet to more of a woman’s wallet, including the other cards inside at least converting to show my new name, not knowing whether they were going to be good for anything. Then I grabbed some bag from my pile of other possessions and turned it into a small purse also matching my current outfit. I put my license in the wallet, my wallet in the purse, and also put my lipstick and phone in.

Wolfe County, Kentucky, March 15, 2001:
A poor, uneducated young teenage girl of fifteen years old gives birth to a baby girl. The thirty-year-old man who had gotten her pregnant stood just outside the bedroom where two older women helped her through the birthing process. The older man had been hoping the girl would give him a boy, instead of a girl. He wanted a boy to carry on his bloodline.

He sighed and reached for the jewelry. It would be less involved to put on than the lifts, though he was well aware that he was silently implying that he wanted to look good for a potential boy by doing so. In fact, he expected one of the girls to insist that he needed to say it out loud like so many other things they had pushed for him to state in his girl voice.

Chapter 6

They got into tune and played one of the Carpenters numbers until they saw Xavier waving to them. Then they put the buds in and waited for his word. Nearly an hour later, they finished the last song and closed down all the equipment. Most of the band went into the rest area and sat around with the Gees, talking about the tour and any likelihood of another.

Willow stayed in the control room, watching as they created the CD of the last set.

“Frank, does this equipment have all the bells and whistles to enhance a recording?”

“That is more than enough.” The voice called out. The voice belonged to a young woman, who judging by her height, and her fashion choice was at least four years older than me. She was dressed in a cream colored top, and a black, pleated leather skirt, leather boots completed the outfit. Her violet colored hair reached down to her shoulders.

“Shake her hand, you both fought a good duel.” She commanded.
