My name is Caspar Ozymandias Duchamp. Please don’t mention that to anybody. I’m known as Cod. I know it’s a bit fishy but I prefer that to my real name. Besides it makes me a big fish in a small pond – I wish. I’m not really that important in school. On the other hand, my high school is not that important. To be honest, it’s on skid row. Nobody cares. The teachers have given up, most of them anyway. The sports teams are in a death spiral with dire results resulting in dire recruitment. For God’s sake they couldn’t even get enough girls to get a full cheerleading squad this year. But who but a cheerleader could care about the Kangville Kangaroo Rats? Just the name is enough to lose interest.

I stepped up to my baby, laying an arm over his shoulders.

“Do you think you will?”

“How do I know, Dad? Not exactly been in any sort of thing with a girl before, have I?”

“Son… Mum and me, we talked you through where we were, before we met. When we were with Alan and Carolyn”

“They’re still family, Dad”

22: Makelan's Requiem

Will Amaza and Sala be able to subdue Makelan and his doomsday weapon? Will the Tessalt Torpedoes developed by the Royal Alban Navy and reproduced by Princess Amaza be enough?

For some unknown reason, most people were up later for their breakfast the following morning. The exceptions, of course, were the four young people nesting in the Edifice, who were clearly audible, even through earplugs, from shortly after dawn. I popped my plugs out just in case we were to be visited by a lively LC, only to hear the typically calm voice of Jan as she corralled and fed the child pack. By the time I finally surfaced, they were gone, apparently delivered by Shan’s Mum Ginny to the children’s play area.

Priorities at that age are somewhat fickle.

[The following April, the week after Easter]

The looming spectre of the end-of-year exams made Dido concentrate on her studies during the week. At weekends, she was able to help John with Joanne's rehab. Slowly, the memory and trauma of the attack in the club receded into the past until they had an unexpected visit from a DI Farmer, who said that he was part of the Human Exploitation and Organised Crime Command, which was investigating a series of attacks on women that were a lot more than just rape.

Sometimes death isn't the end. Sometimes, people can come back with new lives and new powers. This is one of those times.

This is a serial story with litrpg and gamelit elements.

Katie was so right about ‘music on hold,’ which she described as “all your favorite tunes, castrated.”

My mouth and eyes were dry, sunlight through my parents window caused me to stir. I rubbed my eyes a little, after opening them I realised what a mistake that was. I had been wearing mascara, eyeliner and eyeshadow last night and hadn't removed it prior to sleep. The black smudged transfer on my hands led me to expect the same on my face.

Bob waited for me after Drama Club. He had two tickets to the premiere of the new Secret Sissy Spy film. Actually it was Secret Sissy Spy 3. Technically that film had had its Hollywood premiere already but this was the national cinema premiere. He had won the tickets in a call-in radio show.

“Why don’t you go there with your girlfriend?” and then I remembered that his latest girlfriend was history. Bob had quite a lot of history. Rather ironic since he got Ds in that subject.

“No, I just want to see an action movie with a friend that appreciates action movies.”

The freshmen boys of Asher College have obsessed for weeks in anticipation of Phi Lambda Phi’s annual ‘Harvest Moon Panty Raid’ but Nick Wilder has other plans. He’s got his eye on one Phi Lamb in particular and he’s not about to screw it up by being like everyone else. But plans change and so must Nick if he’s going to get the girl of his dreams.

That evening, the show was extra special. The full house had heard what had happened on Friday night and was keen to experience the same thing again. Singing the iconic club song was one thing when the stands were two-thirds filled with supporters, but a full house singing was something not to miss.
