Chapter 4: The Claws

Linus ran a red light on the way home from Scarlett’s hotel. He was so distracted. The Fortis Beach Police that pulled him over recognized Linus from his days in the municipal court before he joined the firm. They talked about all the speeders and drunk drivers Linus had convicted as a junior prosecutor and those he’d gotten acquitted in his brief time as a defense attorney. The officer told Linus he’d let him go with a warning as long as nothing came back when he ran his license through their computer.

Dear Readers, This is an apology and an explanation. I started Wildcat Fall earlier this year and realized it wasn't the story I wanted to tell. Here is a newly written chapter that integrates with the core of the original Wildcat Fall. This is the continuing saga. I would appreciate any feedback. Chapter 4

Willow finished making the drinks, put the three mugs on a tray with some biscuits and took them through to the sitting room, where her parents were watching the late-night news bulletin. She had a text on her phone as she was carrying it in, so sat and read it. It was from the estate agent, telling her that they could inspect the property at two-thirty on Sunday afternoon. She replied with a confirmation.

“What was the call, love?”

Sometimes death isn't the end. Sometimes, people can come back with new lives and new powers. This is one of those times.

I held onto him so tightly, burying my head in his chest. After spending the last few months desperate for a way to find him, there he was, showing up out of nowhere.

I thought back to the last time I'd seen him at the hands of the slavers and only held on tighter.

Willow looked at Josh and Sydney, both blushing.

“Just in little ways, Sydney. Most wouldn’t have seen it. I hope that you’re happy.”

“Happier than I’ve been in ages, Willow.”

Alex had a terminal Cancer diagnosis and thought she would die before she got to be the girl she always was inside. In victory, the Heroine brings about a glorious age of peace between demons and humans for the first time in millennia. ...Which actually sounds pretty good for her people, come to think of it. Devilla knows her terrible behavior is beyond forgiveness, but maybe she can still make up for her past mistakes? She just needs to make sure the events of the game unfold correctly. Though there is one little detail she'd like to change - the part where Devilla herself is killed or enslaved!
