The Thatcher

I was a happy lad, living in a historic village in country England. My home was one of the thirty-six, almost identical, thatched houses along The Street, Milton Abbess, in Dorset. I was the third son of well-to-do parents.

The next morning, our space suits arrived. All eleven of us were all together when we were trying on the suits. Our group of eight simply tried on the suits, without catheters, and made sure they fit. They were set aside for our return to Earth. The other group got fully ready for flight, with a near pass of their target to the station just an hour from when the suits arrived.

Chapter Three

Taking off the frilly dress was a relief, though Sam was just as hesitant as before to step out of the bathroom once he was back in his regular clothes. As soon as he did, he was going to have to deal with more ‘Samantha’ references. Everything downstairs had spun out so quickly. Somehow, despite his gender, he was going to be the flower girl at Fiona’s wedding.

Chapter Two – When Time Breathed Again

At first, there was only silence—a silence older than memory, vast and sacred, as if the breath of the gods had been drawn in and the world itself awaited their command.
