Has anyone heard anything from Shiraz? She did post a few times about NHS (I think) troubles and health issues, but that was almost two years ago now and I can not recall anything more.

Ok, I admit, I’m also having Tammyverse withdrawals. (Odd symptoms; shakes, needing to use the ‘loo’ at odd times and a craving for haggis. (Even though I’m in Canada) I am still on the edge of - SOMETHING - waiting to find out what happened to Burgess.

Alex had a terminal Cancer diagnosis and thought she would die before she got to be the girl she always was inside. That all changes when she's in the wrong place at the right time and gets transported to another world and into the body of a girl. So what if she's not human, she's alive and a girl. Now if only she had her sister with her to navigate this new world and her new responsibilities. Wait, she's here too? The passage of their souls between worlds may have doomed the Earth to apocalypse, but Alex and Michelle won't be there to see it and they have enough problems on their hands.
 

I nodded agreement, giving a nervous laugh as I replied quietly, “Well, we're in the same boat then. I never thought that I'd be a Princess in her Giftsun Parade.”

I'm determined to finish some of the stories in my bone pile. To that end, I've been working on one that I call "Extra Credit" about a young man will graduate middle school in June. The hang up is he's not been doing his homework and his social studies teacher counts homework and 50% of the grade. He gets A's and B's on his tests, but his fall term for the class is a D. We had just given our food order at the bar when Maz squealed, LC looking terrified for a few seconds as Ish calmed her, before turning to offer a hand to our new arrival after he had released Maz from his hug and finished wiping his eyes.

In the bourgeoisie South it's seen as kind of a social stepping stone. A young girl's Confirmation is often seen as a foreshadowing to her own Debutant Ball. A girl from a bourgeois family would often be Confirmated at age twelve, and at age sixteen or seventeen she would become a debutante. What is a debutante?

John was pissed that he died on the beach at Normandy.

It was June 6, 1944 and to say Private John Burton was unhappy would be an understatement. Even though he had heard General Eisenhower's speech on the radio, he really wanted to be elsewhere. Not that he wasn't a red-blooded American and not that he didn't grasp the importance of the mission. It's just that he was convinced there was a German bullet with his name on it. It was a feeling he just couldn't shake. All the trouble his parents went through to raise him, scolding him into good behavior, getting onto him to make good grades. And then all the money and effort Uncle Sam went through to prepare and train him for this exact moment, everything his life was moving towards would come to a wasted end on a beach in France he'd never heard of. He just knew it. And he was mightily annoyed about it.

Being annoyed couldn't describe how John felt when not even ten feet from the landing craft onto the sands of the beach before being cut down by German machine gun fire. Talk about being angry as he fell onto the sand...

And then even more angry when he woke up in another time and place as a naked teen girl...
