Hey BG family!

Hope your new year is off to a roaring start. Mine has been sunny with tons of creative flurries. Sorry I've been MIA for so long. Holidays and a huge creative spurt. I wrote 20 songs and finished a novel, all in one month! Now I need to post them so they don't just live in my head and my laptop. Here is the link for the lyric video of the song: Extra (The X-Factor)

I've been asked for a little clarity on the question of politics

In the current political climate, it can feel dangerous to express an opinion, or even to read someone else's.

BC was intended to be a friendly place to read, write and discuss TG fiction and that will always be its principal mission.

But part of being friendly is feeling safe. Accordingly, I'm going to modify BCs stance on political discussion, a small bit. Such discussion has never been outright prohibited, just frowned on lest it turn into personal attacks and violations of the Three Rules.

BCTS is NOT a political posting site

Look, I get that the "orange arcturian clown" is upsetting a lot of people. Yeah. That is his job. I certainly did not vote for the nut, but he made it in. If you feel the need to post about politics, please choose The Guardian Post, National Enquirer, or Washington Post type of sites to gripe on. They certainly get a lot more views.

BCTS is about writing, and commenting on said stories concerning GTLBQ category.

Recovered?

That bug I had over Christmas and New Year took plenty of time to shift and sometimes I wonder if it's completely gone - using my nasal outbursts as evidence - that box of tissues will need replacing real soon!

However, life goes on. Thanks to Angharad's recent postings about facial epilators I treated myself. I would echo Angharad's comments, they are definitely worthwhile. After the past two weeks my top lip is already showing a positive difference. It helps my confidence!

I'm still writing and currently that's Tammy book 17.

I fell in love with the group - Alan Parsons, Eric Wolfson, Ian Bairnson, and all of the wonderful work they put out. The music of The Alan Parsons Project was the soundtrack of my life for decades - good times and bad. It brought me up when I needed it, and it was there to keep me company in some of the lowest points of my life.

Did I Break Google? Apparently My Book Is Now Fractured Prune

So today I searched my own book title like a normal, well-adjusted author who definitely does not Google herself for validation.

I typed Fractured Rune.

Google paused. Reflected. Consulted the ancient spirits of autocorrect.

And then gently asked, “Did you mean: fractured prune?”

I appreciate Google’s concern for digestive regularity, but this is a queer epic fantasy, not a cautionary tale about fiber intake.

But it shouldn’t surprise me. Queensbury, NY is a community some 30 miles north of where I live. It is a community which is fairly agrarian, but also has a fair amount of old paper mills. Can We learn from history?

Can We (as in the human society) learn from history? Are We able — or willing — see how current events are eerily similar to events that happened over 250-260 years ago? Can We see the parallels of what happens in the present with what happened in the past, and crucially how the outcome of the past parallel could be a pretty good predictor for our own short term future?

More about epilators

Blog About:

It is now about five weeks since I have had a razor or shaver near my face. I use the epilator when there is anything to harvest, it usually takes me about five or so minutes. I will remind you that I had electrolysis on my facial hair many years ago (but not my throat or top lip). A little has grown back but is much finer, as is much of the regrowth from the epilator and which I hope will continue to get finer through the epilation.

The Completely Boring Reason I Revamped My Character Art

So. The character art on my website changed.

No, you’re not imagining it.
No, your browser did not glitch.
Yes, this was intentional.

Originally, the character art for The Aeldstorm Saga was commissioned. That was the right call at the time. I needed art, I wanted art, and commissioning artists is good and cool actually. The art did its job.

But then I ran headfirst into a very unsexy reality.

I did not own the copyright.

I've know a few Goth and I thought it strange because the personality was more outgoing and upbeat than any other Goth I'd known.

She leaves in a vehicle with her parents, following in a (truck?) As they are traveling through (Atlanta?), they are involved in an accident. The MC is following them on APRS (Automatic Packet Reporting System). They appear to remain in the same position for an extended period of time.

This is as much as I can dredge up from my memory. I would greatly appreciate it if anyone could help me find the author/name of the story.

If you're struggling with depression

If you're struggling with life, especially at this time of year, you don't have to suffer alone. I need you, anyone, everyone, to understand this. Mental health issues aren't a sign of weakness that needs to be tucked away like an ugly Christmas sweater your grandma gave you when you were five.

Chris Rea RIP

Sorry to be self indulgent, but just a quick memorial to my favourite guitarist, who sadly passed away today.
Chris Rea was born in Middleborough, now called Teeside, but at the time, Noth Riding of Yorkshire.
His beautiful guitar playing and gravelly voice were the soundtrack of my adolescence, from the poppy "Fool if you think it's over" to the sublime "Auberge", and, of course, he also wrote the classic "Driving Home for Christmas".
I've seen him play at least ten times, and on every occasion, he came over as a nice guy.

And I reached out to a couple good friends who had attended previously but hadn’t made it for a while. They joined us and we had a fantastic evening!

Controlling Computer Data

Author:

A year back I was having problems with BCTS giving me errors. I contacted Erin, she suggested I flush the "cache" in my computer. Never giving too much thought to what Windows did with information on my web visits other than taking care of "history" and "cookies", cache wasn't on my radar. Looking it up there is a ton of one's history loaded there. Removing it won't crash one's computer but may cause loading often visited sites imperceptively slower. Flushing cache will also remove one of the places viruses may data extrapolate and use to infest the computer.

I've pretty much decided that on longer works (in my mind that means >20K words) that rather than posting as a serial I'll provide this kind of means for the reader to read part of the story, leave and come back later and be able to jump to where they left off.
